Cell Pearl vs 2nd Dimension
« on: April 11, 2009, 03:22:32 PM »
for you storm and roto fans can you please compare these two ball for me?  They are somewhat close in specs but I'm looking for real life experience.  I use a ton of 900 equipment but I kind of feel there mid stuff just isn't equal to there higher end balls.

I'm thinking about doing a Cell Pearl and 2nd Dimension for the USBC's?

any suggests or thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I don't know about the Cell Pearl, but I used a 2nd Dimension with some surface very effectively at nationals.

The Cell Pearl is more angular than the Second Dimension.  Also, the Second Dimension can handle a little more oil.  I threw my Second Dimension on the USBC Open pattern at a different house in practice (there's a little more friction and the shot played easier than how it actually plays in Vegas from what I've heard, I don't bowl there for another couple of months!) and had a great look.  Here's a video of it.

For me Second Dimension was more angular but still contollable and hit a little harder to on nationals pattern. Both 2d and cell pearl are drilled the same 4in 50x30 . Cell Pearl didn't cover as many boards and just wasn't as aggressive as 2d. My choice is 2d hands down. I thought i loved my cell pearl till i got my 2d.

I have both of these balls and there drilled the same way (skid/flip), I have high revs high speed (580 rpms, 2 handed, 19-21mph). The Cell Pearl clears the heads really easy and goes longer than the 2nd but has a more flippy backend for me. The 2nd has a good midlane read, and has more of a strong arc backend, once it starts up it isn't going to stop till it hits the back of the pin deck. Both of the balls are at OOB.
