Cell Pearl vs Gravity Shift
« on: June 27, 2009, 02:01:51 AM »
I'm look for a strong pearl something i can use in above avg. oil. something similar the the old storm paradigm. Now i've narrowed it down to the Cell Peal and the Gravity Shift. But which one will handle oil better?

They are basically the same.  Gravity Shift is a bit lower RG and at 15 lb the Cell Pearl has more of a core diff.  Coverstocks are real similar.

If you are looking for the strongest polished asym. in the Utah lineup you may want to take a look at the Virtual Energy.  I am understanding that would be the strongest friction in oil.

I have had both. Sold the Cell Pearl, did not seem to match up well with it. The Gravity Shift is underated. At least as good  as the Virtual Gravity. Angular but not mear as prone to over under as Cell Pearl.

Also, cover on GS easilllyl adapts to change.

I say drill them both up and see what one matches up better for you and sell the one that doesn't. I drilled up a cell pear and hated it, too much over/under for me, but drilled up a Gravity and love it, much more even rolling ball for me, but as we all know everyone is different.

i don't own a GS but ive thrown one, and i own a cell pearl, both are good and they surface change good(storm stuff is alright, roto has always made versatile equipment) right now my cell pearl is my HEAVY oil ball and i love it, it is defiantly one of the better pearls out there and hits like a tank, i think the cell pearl with more surface would handle oil better

Own the Gravity Shift and used to be a great ball. Sucks up way too much oil and requires much attention to the coverstock otherwise you will have a reaction of a urethane ball.

True.

But, 500 abralon, hot water bath, 2000 abralon or 4000 abralon, and just like new,,,,,, maybe better.

Cell Pearl hands down, when i got it i figured it would be a medium oil ball but i can handle the heavy stuff if hit with a little bit of surface, i kept my OBB and it usually doesn't see the lane unless shark is out.

They both handle oil pretty well. I used to keep a 2000 abr finish on my Gravity and use it when my Attitude or Dimension was too sharp or early and flat. I plugged it and swung the Key out past my axis, put the pin under and bring it up the boards quite a bit now on shorter patterns.

My CP stronger off the spot now that the GS is, so there is some utility to having both of them.
