Mars reaction
« on: May 19, 2009, 11:08:06 AM »
Just curious...I pulled out my Mercury out of the closet to my 3 ball bag and started using it again and changed my game a little and seems to work really well for me. However, it was drilled before I changed to a shorter span and it is somewhat beat up and worn. Instead of resurfacing it again and redrilling it I was wondering how similar is the Mars to the Mercury in reaction? The Mercury was a very versatile ball at a low volume/high friction tournament that I used 75% of the time and got deep into the tournament because of the ball however it got even more beat up then before at this old house and was wondering since I like the Mercury for deep inside lines on light oil and love it on heavy but short patterns I can play far outside and tight, how does the Mars compare to the Mercury or is it the same ball pretty much?

Wouldnt the Neptune be a better option than the Mars??

Thanks for the info. I looked at the Neptune and other planet balls including getting another Mercury. I guess it depends on how you drill it and your style but the Mercury is far from strong but any ball is strong on dry lanes. I saw a couple people in this brutal dry lane tournament I bowled at use a Mars and I used a Mercury playing very deep inside and really liked what I saw so I'm going to purchase a Mars and know it will be a little stronger but that's fine. Plus I need a new pair of shoes (bowling shoes that is). So I'm going to buy some new 900 G shoes to replace my beaten up Dynothane shoes.
Thanks for the input. I will be giving the Mercury to a pro shop that will give me something for it but is not worth selling here or eBay. I can't wait to try out the Mars. I will get it drilled I guess like my Mercury, 5 inches from the pin to the pap with the CG kicked to the pap should work great.
