Any luck sanding a Pearl Cell ?
« on: February 22, 2009, 09:43:24 AM »
My home house has changed the shot on me. Seems to me they are going about 3 feet longer with the oil. Most of the stuff I have is going to long. Was thinking of taking a scotch bright to my Cell Pearl. Just wondering how well the ball will react with a little tweaking !?!

I've used mine in box finish with success as well as 4000 grit abralon. The 4000 grit abralon doesn't seem to hook anymore, if it does its very close overall but it digs a little earlier and comes off the spot a little smoother. It probably would do better on more oil but I haven't really had a chance to use it on a non-house shot to know.

I've tried a few different covers on my pin up cell pearl. I run into a lil bit of wet dry on our THS, and love it at 4000 wet abralon. out of box i struggled getting consistant reaction even playing the outside.theres a couple other guys with cell pearls having success @ 4000. I tried 2000 and used up lot of energy in the mids. good luck i'd try 4000

The Cell Pearl takes very well to sanding . I have 2, 1 pin up polished and a 2nd pin down sanded between 2000 and 4000 and this makes for a very versatile ball. Good Luck

OOB the Pearl was a bit long for my style so my driller suggested to take it to 4000 abralon.  I've only used it three games and I'm getting used to the ball still, but so far it's great!

Do you mean 1000 with polish or without?

Ive like sanding the ball from 4000 to 1000 Abralon....and the 1000 grit was my favorite. Still had most of the length I needed with even more backend power.

I used a 1000 grit abralon on mine, but I just quickly hit it and it removed some of the shine. It helps it to read the lanes quicker, plus it takes some of the over/under away! The greatest thing about changing the surface is you can take it back, but don't sell the ball or any ball short by not changing surface!
