Mustang Guy can we get some info?
« on: January 27, 2010, 06:17:47 AM »
Hoping we can get some info from Mustang Guy or a Roto staffer on the dark star and riot. They have a release date but no info and its not on the Roto site? Is there any more info we can get?

They are listed but it says nothing about the ball. Just cover, core and a few numbers. I'm more looking for intended placement and what to expect from them. I want to know what Roto is planning and doing with these balls.

I agree with Locke, would like to see more info on the balls before I am ready to put in a pre-order for one.

Ill try and help fill you guys in with the info i have.  These balls are designed to fill in the huge gap between the nomads and the current planets.  I have only thrown the dark star a few games, but i can say it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Heres some reading for you guys (Click on the links at the bottom of these pages to bring up the PDF files of the design intent and tech data)

Britton, as always you are a great help. I look forward to seeing the videos of the balls. I was wondering if the Dark Star is something along the lines of the Columbia Freeze?

is roto replacing the planet line with these ?
or are they going to be a new line in between the planet series and the nomads ?

just curious because if they are getting rid of the planet series im going to buy a case of Mars balls
I think the Mars is 1 of the best balls out there for me

going by the numbers, seems like they will be Roto's "Hot" line balls similar in strength to the Furious and Fast

I'd say RG has done the right thing with the tech data page by coming out with a RESURFACING METHOD listed right on the page and how long each side and with what media.  More manufacturers need to follow your footsteps.  An informed consumer makes a loyal consumer.

Great job RG!

Fresh info and reviews off bowlingball.com!

and it looks like the Dark Star is dead on to compete with the freeze.

The Dark Star isn''t designed to compete with the Freeze, it''s designed to defeat the Freeze lol... JK. It''ll be in a similar price point and offer a better ball. In fact, we will offer a SOLID in that price point (the Riot) for the first time in a long time (Big Hit Solid?). These balls are gonna outperform the Planet series stuff for cheaper. These balls are gonna set a new standard for performance and value, this I promise.
