not necessarily polish but taken to a higher grit... for me it allowed the ball to be used on a wider variety of lane conditions and gave me a bit more backend. It didn't make it snappy or uncontrollable though. I think the ball OOB is probably a really great ball on heavy fresh conditions with some backend. The places I bowl don't have that much oil in the heads so it would smooth out the hook on my cell or it would just hook way too early. Used an older 2000 abralon and it put a bit more shine on it than OOB. And seemed to work well. 4000 abralon seemed a bit too long if you had alot of speed.. but that depends on the lane condition also.
