shooting star and rising star anyone have both
« on: January 08, 2012, 08:41:58 AM »
currently have a 716c and a shooting star.  i really do not bowling in a lot of heavy oil tournaments.

Wanted to add a 3rd ball to my bag

Do i go defiant? or rising star?

Both my other balls are drill pin up 5X4X2 same layout recommended by my pro shop guy.

my pap is 6 3/4 over and 1 1/2 up

375-350 rev rate
 15mph

both my balls hook a fair amount. If i was to drill a ball should i use the same layout again??
But my main question is the Rising star THAT much different from  a shooting star.  its worth it to have both of them and both drilled the same way???

Yes, but here we add just a little polish to the Shooting Star...

And it works well with the highly polished Rising Star...

I have a Defiant - unless you have enough oil - this is not the ball you want.   i also have the Rising Star, excellent ball. you could polish the Shooting Star to get more length, but the Rising Star is made for more length and a sharp move.  it also depends if you use your 716c for more oil volume or the Shooting Star for more oilier conditions. the Shooting Star is made for medium to heavy oil, thus being a solid cover. the Rising Star is for medium type shots, but don't let it fool you its stronger than you think it would be, it has a nice smooth arch that continunes - and it hits very hard.if you need a ball for dryer conditions i would look for a Dark Star, if you can find one.

yeah i got a rising star. Drill same specs as my  shooting  star. no where close to the same reaction. the ball had a lot of top weight had a small hole drilled in it up instead of being in the middle it was up a little past the fingers grips.

For me the rising star is really really weak. hooks up 7 less boards than my shooting star and 10 less than 716c.

I bowled a second shift with the rising star still didnt hook much and couldnt carry moved to my shooting star that has light polished it matched up a lot better.
