If the surface has a considerable amount of volume AND is 48 feet, here is something I would try.
Take the Halo, which I'm assuming flares more than the Idol, take it to 1000, and sand it parallel to the initial ball track. Then try it. That should give you not as much skid in the fronts, but when the ball starts to flare, it will really slow down and read the lane. If it hits like a wet noodle, then do the same thing, but with 4000.
