Trick Layout on an Odyssey?
« on: April 19, 2007, 08:41:11 AM »
My buddy won an Odyssey, and I told him we should try the trick layout on it. He does not like a ball to start early, and I thought that would fight against that. He is a very very high rev player, medium to high speed...anyone?

He's really got no desire to have it, that's the worst part. I told him we could find a drilling to put on it to make it work for him. hopefully everyone knows the "tj trick layout" i'm talking about...pin 3 3/8 from axis point, but 1" off the VAL, mb above thumb hole.

i thought the pin was 5 inches away from pap in this layout...anyway i think your defeating the purpose of this ball by using this layout..jmo

If he really is a high rev player, then he would like the "Trick" layout in the Odyssey.  However, I would modify it slightly by placing the MB at 45-55*.  I tried it first in a Saga and it was a little too long and required more friction than I liked.  However, my Odyssey with this layout (5" from pap with MB at 45*) is really strong with no signs of hooking early.  Angle downlane but with control.

This is also called an asymetrcial flip layout (thought of by Mo Pinel before TJ) that you can see in some morich layout sheets.
