Cytoplasmic cover of the CELL and CELL PEARL
« on: September 22, 2008, 03:14:04 PM »
This taken from the Roto Grip website:

The CELL:
"The Cytoplasmic solid reactive coverstock is a durable long lasting coverstock with a slower oil absorption rate with a 10% increase in surface friction."

The CELL PEARL:
"The Cytoplasmic Xâ„¢ pearl reactive coverstock is a first in the industry with the optimum amount of porosity and enhanced surface friction."

My question is what exactly is in this Coverstock that helps it be so durable and long lasting? Is this Coverstock similar to the SOAKER from Dyno Thane from a while back with similar elements involved possibly?

And the "optimum amount of porosity" and the "oil absorption rate with a 10% increase in surface friction" that is mentioned... does this partain to the elasticity of the coverstock, for example small microscopic holes or a particle-like substance in the Coverstock?

Sorry for what may seem like dumb questions, but I just don't know...

Thanks!

How it was explained to me, was they basically took the coverstock fibers and were able to pull them tighter making the pores smaller but maintaining the ability of the coverstock to generate friction. Kind of like taking a tenis racket and making it longer rather than wider. you have more tension now on the strings and smaller gaps between each string.  Your cover is able to still create a lot of surface friction and a large footprint in the oil but the cover doesn't absorb oil into the pores.

From what it sounds, the DIMENSION is basically Storm's version of the Roto Grip CELL. With the designer of both balls being Hank Boomershine, that makes sense.

Like the CELL, there is similar talk about the DIMENSION's "R2Xâ„¢ Solid Reactive" Coverstock having special blends of materials to provide outstanding durability and higher traction in Oil.

So is the design of the Coverstock on the DIMENSION identicle to that of the CELL (like stated above with the Tennis Racket strings senerio)?

Thanks!

I believe the Dimension's cover has more surface friction than the Cell.

Ra and Rs numbers are different I believe.
