Danger to replace Storm Rocket?
« on: May 01, 2018, 03:00:26 PM »
My favorite THS ball of all time is the Storm Rocket. Just the way that ball gets off the spot and never hit weak, I miss it. After going through about 8-10 EBI duds I haven't quite found a replacement for it and I don't think I want to gamble on an Ultra Heat. Is the Danger close for that go skid, lope, quick move down lane reaction?

Not to be a shill, but if you can find a Drift, do so. 2.54 .046 on the Rocket, 2.53 .054 on the Drift, with that awesome Hulu weightblock.

For skid, and down lane Flip, I love my Hy-Road.  7 years in production and still my favorite.
14lb 15.5 mph at pins 325 Revs. Silver Coach, Ball Driller. In Bag:  Storm Pro-Motion, Hyroad X, Matchup, Code Red.

I agree on the All Out being closer as well. We have a bowler who replaced their Rocket with a Danger and it's just not quite the same.

Hyroad is always an option. I was looking at the Badger and HyRoad as a possibility. All Out Show Off is so freaking ugly it never came across my mind. Anything I've thrown with R2S hybrid was great. All Out is such a good value though. Nice call.

Badger could be close but I think it's a little stronger from what I've seen.

Potentially the Match Up Hybrid as the core shape is similar and Reactor is same family as R2S.

I know what you mean about the All Out, I thought the same thing about the Motiv Tag Cannon at first but now I have a hard time putting it away as long as there's some defined friction

I thought the same thing of the Frantic - UGLY!

And it is one of my favorite balls of all time.

My Son's All out Show off looks great on the rack and GREAT out of his hands!  2 of them!

I see it as similar but even more continuation than the Rocket(which I own also).

The Freakin, Rocket, and All out are all similar but different pieces!  Potentially the All Out the best!  Varying by hand/speed matchup.

My Son could take the Snap out of the Freakin at his home house...I could not. Yet I loved it at my house later in sets!   My Son could take the snap out of the All Out but says he hasnt been able to lately.  Of course he does not enjoy the much deeper than the 3rd arrow preferring to get up close to 21 MPH, and 3rd arrow to smooth things.

Back and forth he goes from the Danger Zone Vintage to the All Out.  Soon I think he may be going back and forth with the Show off in the mix.

Why not just another Rocket? There have to be some still available.

I may have to find an out of region distributor. Buddies, bowling.com, bowlersdeals.com bowlers supply and gebhardts are all out of 15s.

The Rocket for me rolled way better than any Hyroad I drilled, even though they are the "same cover". The HyRoad was always a little over under for me (15lbs).

The Rocket I use the most has about the same layout as my Danger. The Danger picks up the roll earlier for me, while the Rocket responds a little stronger to friction. With my softer speed, my Danger is a slight step up from my Rocket, even though the cover isn't as strong. Not knowing your game, but from what I have seen on the lanes, if you are some what speed dominate, the cover/core combination can even itself out, and be closer to the Rocket. But with a softer speed or rev dominate, they seem to gap more. Justmy 0.02.
God creates us with a blank canvas, and the "picture" we paint is up to us. Paint a picture you like and love!

I have a 15lb NIB, 3-3.5” pin. It’s been sitting in the garage for the past few years, waiting for the magic moment. I’d consider selling it, but I bought it priced with drilling. Add the cost of shipping and it wouldn’t be worth my break even cost. Good luck with your search.

Tommy, I too like the Rocket more than the Hyroad I had. The HyRoad was a tenpin machine but it also had a very weak layout. I'm dead set on an Idol for nationals. As an overall 3 ball bag, an All Out might make a nice 3 ball bag.
