Pin Up Nomad Solid/Pearl or Dark Star?
« on: March 01, 2010, 11:19:02 PM »
I really like my Nomad Solid pin down.  My best scores this year have been shot with it.  http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q29/scotts33/RotoGripNomadSolid.jpg

I've used an various lane conditions and have come away with generally good results.

I am looking for a ball with more length and as much hit which also might be good on some carry down.  Lane condition not fresh beat up heads moving in. Do I look at pin up's (pin above bridge/CG kicked out a bit) a Dark Star, Nomad Pearl or another Nomad Solid?

Stats. are in profile.

A pin up Reign would fit that bill. Great length and tremendous move off the spot.

Thought about a Reign but didn''t post it though they are aligned companies.

How do the RG/Storm pearls handle a medium amount of carry down?  One reason, I posted another Nomad Solid or a 2nd Dimension?

I have a pin up slightly over the bridge and centered CG kicked out 45 deg
Nomad Pearl
and the damn thing works on just about every condition
including carry down situations
its my first ball out of the bag on just about every PBA and sport shot condition
The only 1 I could not use it well on was Cheetah (but that was because the house was a higher friction surface than most) and I was just getting too much backend from the outside line, and I could not get the ball to stay right of the headpin from any inside line

I say go with the Nomad Pearl
Dark Star might be too weak for the carry down

I think it depends on how you want to attack the lanes once the transition occurs. If you want more angle and possibly the ability to move left, go with the Nomad Pearl. It is surprisingly strong.  If you want to stay in the same zone, the Dark Star may work (I haven't thrown mine yet...will tonight).
