updating arsenal
« on: May 29, 2013, 12:46:52 PM »
It is never too early to start thinking about my fall arsenal. So this is what I am looking at doing, so I need your input to see if this looks good.  I mainly bowl leagues with the occasional tourney. So here is what I am looking at -- I currently have -- Critical Theory (2) -- Disturbed -- Berserk -- Defiant Edge -- Shatter -- Rising Star ------- I will keep in my arsenal one Critical  - Disturbed - Berserk -- will add the Deranged for sure -- now should I get the Wrecker in place of the Rising Star or a Rumble?  I also believe I will get the Soul in place of my Edge, or should I get the Totally Defiant? I am not sure if the Totally Defiant would overlap the Critical? The Shatter I believe I will keep as well. Let me know what you think?

I'd get a Wrecker and a Soul in there for sure. The Edge and Rising Star look like the two to go. I'd also be inclined to drop the Berserk for the Deranged, depending of course on how good the Deranged is.

The Soul is on my list, Wrecker I am debating on. I am waiting to here more about the Totally Defiant. I will say that I am very hesitant to retire my Rising Star, because it still works, and I love it's reaction.

When your rising star gives up the wrecker will be there! Mine is honestly my favorite rock right now!

On the comparison ball line on Rotogrip.com, the Edge and the Totally are very similar, with the Totally just a bit more agressive, from what i can tell.  If you like the Edge, from what's out there for information, the Totally Defiant looks pretty close.

Wise bowler told me once: K.I.S.S.   Keep it simple stupid.

Totally Defiant

I believe I have this almost narrowed down.  my revised idea is I am looking at  keeping my pin down Critical --- Disturbed --- and Rising Star.  I am going to get the Deranged for sure. Now this is where I have the questions, I want to retire my Edge and I am leaning towards the Soul instead of the Totally Defiant.  I am also debating on either the Wrecker or the Rumble. I am probally going to sell my Shatter, I dont use it as much, but the Berserk I probally will keep I am not sure yet.

I'd go with the Defiant Soul.  It would be a great compliment to the Critical while being a bit stronger than your Disturbed.  The other thing I like about the Defiant Soul is that it is versatile on a wide range of medium-heavy patterns.

I was debating the same thing of Defiant Edge, Defiant Soul or waiting for the Totally Defiant this past week.  I opted for the Critical Theory instead after finding one NIB for a great deal.

Between the Wrecker and Rumble, I would lean towards the Rumble for the time being.  The Wrecker is a great ball, no doubt.  However, I see this as a good time to get a solid to compliment the hybrid, which gives you more versatility in the arsenal.  The Rumble will read a bit earlier and won't be as angular as the RS.  It's a good step down from the Deranged you're looking to buy.

So with that, it would be:
Critical > Defiant Soul > Disturbed > Deranged > Rumble > Rising Star

MOTIV Mythic Jackal

Med-Heavy:
MOTIV Trident Odyssey
MOTIV Forge Fire
MOTIV Covert Revolt

Medium:
MOTIV VIP ExJ Sigma
MOTIV Sigma Sting
MOTIV Pride Solid

Medium-Light
MOTIV Venom Shock
MOTIV Tribal Fire

I will "soulfully" take this input. This sounds like a killer arsenal - don't you agree! I still cant wait to here some feed back on all of the new balls. I am still intrigued about the Totally and what it will do? With that said, I believe I am going to get the Totally Defiant to replace my Edge and pass on the Soul for now.

From what I've heard so far, the big difference is the Totally Defiant does not have the MicroBite additive in the cover.  That will give it a pure pearl reactive cover, similar to the Lucid.

The overall reaction shape will be similar, but the Totally Defiant will be more angular than the Edge.  It will actually be the most angular of all the Defiant balls to date.

Whether or not it will be more angular than the Critical Theory remains to be seen.  The Critical Theory is known as one of the most angular balls that Roto Grip has produced.

I believe I have the fall line up finally figured out -- I will keep in my bag my pin down Critical Theory - Disturbed, pin even Shatter and I will keep my Rising Star (just to good to retire). I will replace my Edge with a pin down Totally Defiant, and add a pin down Deranged. I may add a Rumble, but I am not sure at this time. In reserve  I also have a pin up Critical Theory and a pin even Berserk that I can pull out if I need them. ROTO RULES!
