Rising Star with Pin Up?

Has anyone drilled a Rising Star with a length drilling or pin above the fingers?

 

I'm looking for a good ball that will let me play fairly straight.  I'd like to play a down and in shot up the 2nd arrow or so.

I have a pin above the ring finger and about an inch toward the VAL.   I use mine for medium to dry lanes generally the end of league play or from end of the day burned out lanes.   I get about 10-13 boards worth of total movement which sounds like what you are looking for (BTW, I am a tweener with avg ball speed and avg revs).   However, I have talked to others who have said it hooks a ton.   

 

I like the ball and would recomend it.   You smight also seek feedback on the Rotogrip Dark Star and the Storm Natural which IMHO are even less aggressive balls than the Rising Star.

Yes- I have mine with a pin up, similar to Storm's 4x4x2 layout.  It does a great job for me where I can play more outside yet still remains clean in the heads and hits hard in the backend.

I just drilled one 5x5 pin up high above ring finger with a 1inch pin buffer and it reacts great.  The ball gets down the lane pretty clean, but it is very strong on the backend.  Depending on your speed, revs and the shot you are playing on it may force you a little deeper than second arrow.  I believe the Dark Star is probably about 4-5 boards weaker than the Rising Star, you can't go wrong with either ball.

I have several Rising Stars and I love love this ball!!!!  One is of mine is drilled pin up above the fingers on the center line and the CG is kicked to the right slightly.  Great movement when it leaves oil and find friction.  Great back end! It is stronger that the Dark Star with like a layout by 5.5 boards.  Great ball and a WINNER from RotoGrip!!!!  

 

Did you get that I love this ball?

Just got my Rising Star drilled and I had a chance to play with it last night. It is drilled pin up with the cg kicked out a little. The ball does need dry boards. I am up the back with a little tilt. My line is usually straight up, I had to bounce it of the dry to carry 7 pins (lefty). I got to the hole easy with it and it hits well. Definitely a 3rd game ball for me. It should be great on a shorter shot with clean backends.

My rising star is drilled with a 5 inch pin above the bridge and I love this ball. I have played this ball on the same shot with guys using nanos, marvels,taboos,and this ball only makes me glad i spent this 80 bucks and not that 160. I have had some of my best games with this ball and off all the balls I have it is the most consistent. Its nowhaere near a dry lane ball for me. I bought it to replace my freeze and the freeze cant touch this ball. I let a friend of mine throw it the other day and he was playing with a pure physics and a vg and really not liking the reaction of either. He had to move right with the rising star and we he got lined up he couldnt stop striking,I thought i was gonna have to fight him for my ball,lol. This ball is money on medium and less shots,down and in or swinging,any ths this ball is perfect for. I just wish I had something above it that I loved as much,maybe its my skill level,but its been a long time sincew I had a ball that was this dependable. I can almost pick this ball up and strike on anything. I dont see alot of oil,and there have been a few times where its not enough ball,but for those other times. If you ever wanted to experiment,spend the money on this ball you wont be sorry.
