How is my cell drilled?

How I my cell drilled? I'm not a great bowler....just an average 175-185 bowler. I got another cell that I won from ebay ( xblem/ probably pro pin)that I'd like to play straight up the boards and make a hook into the pocket. To become a better bowler one must repeat good shots. I have trouble repeating good shots unless I play straighter or stand left throw right and make that big arc when the lanes are drier.

Unless you have a lot of oil, or a lot of ball speed or have very low revs, that seems to be a fairly strong, early revs drilling. You're not going down the boards in too many houses. It's more of "stand left and throw right" type of drilling.

My ball speed is about 14.5, med revs. You know what though, in heavy oil, ball's not as strong as I WANT it to be. I have to adjust my throw so I don't leave a wash out. (I think this is why I don't string strikes) Would it be a good idea to make a surface change to this drill, and drill my other cell weaker so I can play up the boards. Or other way around and polish this drill and drill my other cell with a strong layout (the 4x4 layout). I know bowling is all about making adjustments, still trying to learn those...but what I'm looking for now is a very strong CELL and a weaker CELL. I don't want two cells that pretty much overlap each other. Is that possible...

I assume the 14.5 mph is somewhat of a measurement. I assume the "med revs" is not.
Only because I have one and the drill I had to put on mine, due to its being a pro CG ball, was weaker than yours, I can say that you probably do not have true medium revs, if the cover is at its stock 2000 grit Abralon finish.

Try 600 grit US scale or a 1000 grit Abralon finish. It will handle heavy oil for a medium revs bowler, especially one with slower than average speed, like yourself.

If that doesn't work, I suspect you need a ball like the Visionary AMB particle to handle true heavy oil.

Don't drill the 2nd one, until you get the results you need from the first one.

You can't just stand there and throw it the same way with a stronger ball when you get on heavy oil.  You have to adjust to the lane conditions you're on at the time.  On heavy oil, get the ball into an earlier roll and play a more direct line to the pocket.  Heavy oil balls aren't designed to hook a ton (though the Cell certainly can on the right lane conditions) -- they're designed to get into a strong, consistent roll that helps you generate some angle to the pocket and good continuation through the pins compared to a ball that skids more through oil and won't react soon enough.
