Drilling a SSP
« on: January 14, 2004, 01:37:40 AM »
I just acquired a Silver Streak Pearl in a trade and am not sure how to drill it. It has a 3.5" pin. I was thinking of putting the pin to the right of ring, cg swung out near pap with a weight hole on my pap. I want something that MOVES!! I am lacking a ball that really moves in my arsenal so I thought this ball would do the trick. Use it on a fresh shot with clean backends. Let me know what you guys think. I know the ball will naturally get good length so maybe drill it to move earlier??

Mine is drilled 4.75 x 3 (pin 2" over the ring finger).  I wouldn't drill it too strong or to roll too early.  Even on medium oil, it only gets average length (not great for a pearl).  If you have any hand at all, it will move.  I don't want mine as a benchmark because it's sometimes hard to get lined up with.  Very easy to ping 10's or leave some designer splits.  But, under the right conditions, it's fantastic.

I would agree with Strider in most aspects. It has good length, but nothing exceptional for a pearl (2.52 rg...fairly low).  My buddy has this ball and loves it. His is drilled 4x4, stroker, rolls the ball nicely and this ball just flat out moves!

Strider nailed it when he said "if you have any hand at all"...that's the key.

Depending on what condition you want to concquer will determine your drilling, you said fresh shot w/ clean backends....is that a fresh medium, medium heavy, etc.....but with clean backs you should be ok..........

This will suffice for your MOVE ball in your arsenal, .... drill it w/ your favorite drilling if you have some hand, if not, just make sure you put (what would be the mass bias..it's not marked on these balls) in the strong position.

Sorry Jeff, the shot is a fresh med/hvy shot. The oil carries down quickly though. I also thought I may be able to use this on my 2nd shift Friday night league as the lanes are broken down already.
