Drilling of a Roto Spare Tire.....
« on: June 05, 2006, 06:35:17 AM »
Okay....first of all...I don't know my PAP. So...given that "little " stricture, how would one go about drilling the Roto Spare Tire to come close at least to having it "roll" down the lane?

Take your current spare ball and throw it on an oily lane (not one that's bone dry, at least).  See where the first (and probably only) oil ring is.  Put the ball on a spinner with that oil ring approximately on the equator.  Turn the spinner on.  If the oil ring is stationary, then the north pole is your PAP.  If not, adjust until it is stationary.

Or, if no spinner, put a piece of contrasting tape near where you think your PAP is (again, on a low-flaring or plastic ball).  Throw it.  If the tape is stationary in the heads, that's your PAP (possibly your NAP, in which case your PAP is on the opposite side of the ball).  If not, move the tape and try again.

I do have a pretty good guess as to what my Pap is and things seem to be working well without knowing exactly what it is.

The only other question I have is on cleaning....how do you clean the clear plastic/resin/whatever to keep it clear for as long as possible? I usually use Track's Clean N Dull. That okay?
