Drilling on Silver Streak Pearl??
« on: December 18, 2005, 11:55:15 AM »
I was going to drill my Streak with a pin above and between the fingers, and cg right of or in the center of the palm. I'm afraid it will overlap my Smokin' INferno drilled similar.

So, what drillings would you suggest for a stronger drilling maybe for it, or any other suggestions would be great.

From what Ive seen the Smokin Inferno is lazy on the back part of the lane. In theory the SSP should be a step below under the OI. I can tell you from experience that the SSP has sick backend, most of any ball Ive ever owned. I had it drilled pin over ring with cg under middle finger. Side note, why do you have so much pearl equipment?

Why not have the pearl equipment? They all fit into my game, so that's why I have them. Just curious why you ask? I just ended up with the Silver Streak, so I wondered if it was going to overlap, or fit in somewhere.

Jeffrevs-I am wanting to play it straighter, and snap at the end. My Smokin' can cover alot of boards, and my question was if the two are similar in strength/reaction/etc. and would over lap. I'm just not familiar with Roto balls.

I had my SSP drilled 4x4, which ended up being pin up/right of ring, cg stacked, and man did this thing move. i could cover as many boards as a wanted, and i mean that literally. all i had to do was slow down a bit and i could play left of gutter and THROW it right lol. what a fun ball! very aggressive, but mine tended to die as far as oil handling once it had a little oil in it. excellent ball nonetheless.

Well from looking at your pearl extensive arsenal, it seems as though you lack a piece that will give you a strong midlane roll. As you probally already know the SE is a Solid/Pearl Combo. That combo along with the high diff. If drilled to do so will give you a NASTY Midlane read, that is great for sport shot conditions when you want to tame down the backends, or when there is a good deal of carrydown. Mr reccomendation is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2, with a weight hole popped 1" inside of VAL.  I have a RS-1 punched up like this and OH BABY!!!! This ball is nothing but the truth.  Now beacause of the midlane roll that is created with this layout, your not going to be able to swing the ball 50 boards, but you won't be going up the boards either. Its great for playing inside angles. Only drawback that I have found with this layout is on a THS, it gives me so much angle. which equates to a lotta 4, 9, and 4-9's left.

Now before you think that I am just a guy who says "oh yeah pucnh it up like this", I'm not.  I have had a many of RG's, just look at my profile, and I have used and seen a lotta different layouts.  Keep us posted on what you do.

I'm not familar with that drilling, can you explain it to me? That sounds like more of what I'm looking for, something for carry down. Thanks for all the help too guys!

What is that your not familiar with the numbers?  Whenever you see ??? x ??? The first is the distance from the pin to your PAP, then the second is the distance from your CG to your PAP.  Your driller should be familiar with this system.

Well first off let me correct myself, I thought that this post was for the SE, but the drill will work the same for the SS Pearl, believe. Well see Fatboy, I can't really say put the CG here and the pin here, because it varies from bowler to bowler.  Just as a pin over my bridge and the cg stacked below, would differ in reaction when you threw it then when I threw it, because the distances would be be different to our PAP's.  If you wanna see a pic of what it "kinda" looks like, look in my profile, its the drill on the RS1.  But the drills can differ so much...its hard to really give you a precise location of the pin and cg
