Agreed with the redrilling issue. Nothing wrong with that. Hell, my RS-1 is on Drill #3, and it's still a tank.
If you don't like the reaction, a good proshop would offer to plug and redrill at minimal to no cost. A good driller understands the fact that he must maintain clients to keep his business. See if your driller will do this. If not, or you're serious about switching to Roto:
Epic Battle
Epic Saga
Horizon Pearl
Saturn, or Mercury, depending on how light your light oil condition is.
As far as the collegiate sport shots, the Battle and the Saga would work perfectly. My girlfriend bowls collegiately, but she's not as equipment oriented as most (Has two Oracle Vision's, one drilled with the pin IN the ring, and the other pin below the ring). On one of the tougher shots, she had trouble making her first Vision (In the ring) turn the corner at all. So, she got the second Vision and had it drilled to read the lane sooner. I'm thinking about talking her into taking the surface down as well, probably somewhere around 600. As far as a Roto arsenal, those 4 should cover any condition except toast. There isn't really a current line-up ball from Roto made for absolute toast, if plastic isn't your style.
Hopefully this helps.
