RS-X surface prep
« on: September 21, 2005, 11:22:59 AM »
Has anyone sanded the out of box finish
yet?? The cover lives up to its name..
extreme grip on the backends.. a bit too much
for a couple of us around here.. thought about
knocking the shine off to help control the
backend..

I have the total opposite look with my RS-X RotoRPS.  It was just a little bit too squirty for my liking with the box finish so I cut it with a grey scotch brite and no it loves the oil.  I think the combination of the layout and the dull surface works great for my game.  Like all dull balls though, you cannot swing it to the dry too quickly or it will check up.  It does tame the reaction a bit, but it still has awesome backend.  I might either get another on of these or the new RS-P so that I have all three. Good luck.  Try it, if you don't like it, shine it back up.

I purchased this ball as I've never owned & thrown a RotoGrip (I'm always willing to try different companies).  After throwing this ball, I had the same reaction as you (with box finish).  A bit squirty, so I'm going to hit it with a grey abralon and then Magic Shine and see what happens.

tberk35,

I have two RSX's , one drilled 4 x 2 1/2 and the other 3x2 and I have found both work better for me after I hit them with a grey scotchbrite and then 3m rubbing compound. Makes them a little more controllable. Good Luck!!!
