rs-1 vs rs-p

just got an rs1 in a trade

pin under ring cg out about on inch no wt hole.

how different is the rs1 from the rsp??  same cores right???

what can I expect from this drilling on the rs1.  I am slower speed med tracker, med revs.

The RS-1 and the RS-P with similar, if not precisely the same, drillings can easily be very complementary to one another. A good one-two punch when going from medium or medium-heavy oil, transitioning down to medium or medium-light oil.

Of all the ball comparisons I have seen posted, I would have to say that this is one of the most controversal.  From some people's point of view they say "same core, different covers, ehh same ball", others say that the RS-1 will give you more length because its pearl.  Now having said that, and not to knock charlest or ragnrk @ all. I own both and they can be their own monsters in there own right.  First off the cores in these ball are gonna give you a mean midlane read no matter how you punch them up, its just the nature, now what you have to ask yourself is how drastic of a mid lane read you want.  MY RS-1 has more midlane ARC than my RS-X believe it or not, but its punched up that way.  However the RS-1 always cleans the heads better when they get a little spotty.  the drilling on your RS-1 should give you an even midlane read which is GREAT on sport shots like a 36-38 flat shot. But don't think that if you get an RS-x and it will do the same because it won't, maybe similar but not the same.  I'm done rantin, here are pics of my pieces in my profile you can check them out if you want.

Hey, nice post/reply anyway. (no sarcasm)

The/my point is, even with the same core, well, especially with the same core, you have a great family of ball paths. The coverstocks, no less the box surface preparation, allows these balls to be used on totally different oil patterns AND amounts, with a small bit of overlap that is ESSENTIAL for balls that are intended to be complementary to each other. Without that overlap, they CANNOT be complementary.

Of course, I have neither the RS-1 or the RS-P, but do have the RS-X, which used once, is yet an enigma to me. Have to try it again soon. Watching a friend use an RS-1 all summer long tells me this RS-1 is a great ball.

Bingo!!!!

A little off topic.....Personally, I think Roto Grip errored in giving the RSX a box condition of 1500 polished!  Doesn't make sense to me...never did....never made sense to my why they put the Silver Streak at 1500 polished either.  A solid reactive should have a more -neutral- surface...i.e.; 1000 smooth ....1200 smooth....something like that .....anyhow....rant off

RS line goes like this.....in strength OVERALL (box condition)
RSP
RSX
RS1


However....they're covers are easily tweakable to get a nice overlap if needed/where needed

Nice post Ryan.....if I had these 3...I'd go like this...

4x3 box on a Rsp

2 1/2x5 1000 abralon on a RSX (kind of use in a control type fashion, lane reader)

5x3 2000 abralon on a RS1 -or- do a 2x2 or so....

I have all 3 of mine layed out 4" Pin 70degree MB / 5.5" MB.  This way I'm able to compare them without the drilling changing their reaction (ie  you could technically drill the RSP to go longer than the RS1 etc - not that anyone is going to do that though lol).

I have had a chance to match these two balls side by side with the same drilling. Personaly I think the rs1 has tons more length and very tame on the back end. Great ball for down and in on fresh shots or shorter sport shots. The RSP tends to roll much earlier and flatten out at the pins. Covering more boards on the lane. Be a good high scoring house shot ball. I would not see my self throwing it on sport shots ofter.

Both of them were polished
