Other companies have released DRIER Lane balls that have pucks for a core that seem to work better on true Drier Lanes!

For instance:
Scout/R
Power Groove DRY/R
Blue Hot Flame
Red Hot Flame
Barrage
Storm Hot Shot

These balls above will generally handle Drier Lanes better than Roto Grip's Lightest Oil ball (least hooking ball) they make! Like from a couple years ago, the Sonic X... and the current Neptune!

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Roto Grip ball to step down to when the Neptune is hooking to much on the backend (and when the Spare Tire isn't enough)?

And even though the "Hockey Puck" type core balls basically have a pancake weightblock and 1-2 little pucks for added hitting power and to give RG Differential... I just think that kind of core, along with one of Roto Grip's tested proven covers... that it would make one amazing ball for DRY LANES!

Would anybody else love to see this from Roto Grip?

I would believe margin to be lower on such a release and if you are trying to fit your production within a time schedule is it beneficial to the company?? Not saying its a bad idea but thats a big market with everyone in, tough buck to make from a smaller comapny.

Ric,

I still use a Barrage these days and you know I loved the Blue Hot Flame, but surface changes and drilling options can still make the Neptune come as close to the above balls as needs require for the 99.999% case. Remember that RG is still only a small company. Heck, I'm surprised they even made a ball as mild as the Neptune AND as tunable as the Neptune.

In addition, as the days roll by, we see less and less of the really dry lanes that we used to see more often. The oils are generally more viscous these days also.

The last reason and, maybe, the most significant may be that the uber-owners of RG, Storm, may not allow such a move. Bean-counters rule!

Hey guys,

Always love the suggestions, but it just doesn't fit our plan for Roto Grip.  We like having only 3 price points and cover the product line from top to bottom as close as we can.  If somebody wants a reaction like that, nothing better then the Tropical Storm!

Thanks,

Roger (and anybody else who wants to answer),

Is the STORM Tropical Storm longer with less backend than the Neptune?

I figured they were similar balls as far as strength...??? How much different are they?

Thanks!

I have to agree with Roger on this. I am a Storm and Roto Grip guy and I am wanting to buy a cell but can't afford one at this time. But on the drier lane conditions I would suggest a Tropical. I coach my local high school team and that is the ball i tell my kids to get when they are wanting to throw a hook cause it is a ball that can be used for medium lanes conditions or drier conditions. I personally do not own a tropical in my current arsenal which I am thinking on getting one or the Street Rod by Storm that will be in the Jolt line. Roger, I agree with you on the point and on having only 3 price points in today game you have storm with about 5 and Ebonite about 5 or 5 price points. I think in today's game bowling balls have to be limited like Roto Grip does to the point that if you can make a bowler arsenal with a narrow of choices instead of a ton of choice I think it is better off that way. So I would say a Tropical for the dry ball would be the choice.

My problem is balls that have pucks for a cores is they hook alot more than a Neptune on dry lanes they go sideways.

Really?

What "puck core" balls have you thrown that are stronger than the Neptune?

Have you thrown the Power Groove DRY/R... that ball has a "puck core" but the cover is supposedly weaker than the regular Power Groove Reactives... so I wonder if it is weaker than the Neptune?

Thanks!
