New With Roto
« on: June 02, 2008, 03:53:20 AM »
I'm kinda new to the Roto line. I do have my eyes on Quest for Heavier volume of oil my hard core (Circle) can't handle. But I have a chance of trying my friend Roto RSX last week. I was very impressed with the look this ball gave me, I actually try 2 RSXs with 2 different layout and I love them both. I actually try Saga, and his other roto ball. I like RSX the best.

I know the RSX has been discontinued. My question is, with current line of Roto which one has the similar character with the RSX?

Thanks

If I am not mistaken I believe the Grand Illusion, coming out in a few months will give you the closest reaction to the RSX. The Illusion is a great ball also. Very close to the RSX. The Cell Polished is a good option too...

Thank you all for the input. I haven't try Illusion yet, altho I have try Mystic but a pound lighter then what I use (I use 15 pound ball). My read for the Mystic is the same as you. It goes a bit longer than RSX but not as predictable as RSX off breakpoint (I try 2 Mystics with 2 different layout). I haven't see Illusion yet, from your information perhaps it's might not be the reaction I am looking.

I guess I will have to see what Grand Illusion can give me. I just hope it will give me the look like the RSX and more..

Chivas,
With the Mystics you might want to try them at 4000 or 2000.  I had a lot of over/under OOB, but after I scuffed it up a bit it was golden.  It did a great job of blending the extreme wet/dry house shots.

I agree with bowlingmytmouse's suggestion to take the surface of the Mystic to 2000 Abralon.  I took the surface of one of my Mystic's (pin down, 5" from axis, CG at 45 degrees, weight hole 1" below PAP on VAL) to 2000 Abralon and it worked great on a sport shot last week.  Ball had ridiculous energy at the pins.
