838 with an illusion
« on: February 08, 2008, 12:09:11 AM »
Last night in league decided to try my Illusion instead of my Thunderstruck.
Good choice on my part.

Started out 10 pin/spare.
290
Next 18 in a row.
Left back to back 7 pin/spares.
Hambone.
268
Strike
7 pin/spare.
Sheet.
280

This was the best i've series i've had in 10 years.

Nice set Mike! Looks like the new RG stuff suits your game.  This was at T & O?

Did you figure out your Cell?

It was at T+O.
Once I figured out what Hank,Chris Sand and Steve Richter were trying to pound into my head during a lesson in August.
My scoring has gotten back to were I was back in the late 90's and early 00's.

Scott,
We'll talk in Cambridge about my Cell.

How do you think the Illusion compares to your Thunderstruck?  Just curious since you have both.

My Illusion has more backend movement compared to my Thunderstruck.
Not sure if its true for everyone.
But for me it is.
My Illusion has the pin up above my ring finger and stacked.
While my thunderstruck has the pin below it and cg kicked out.

Two vary different ball reactions.

Great shooting, Michael.

Let's parlay this recent success into some cash next weekend.  You know how I finished last night so let's keep this train movin'!

That was my 12th one.

I drilled the Thunderstruck to mimic a Command Zone ARC that I used to have good success with.
The roll is now very similar.
So the ARC found a new home as a sturgeon decoy.

The different drillings may explain a lot of the reaction one would think.

REgards,

PS Sweet shooting!

RS-X   heavy oil ball for me.
T-Road solid  right below my RS-X.
Illusion most house shots
Thunderstruck right below my Illusion.
Buzzsaw Evolution(drilled very weak) and polished up for drier conditions.
Maxim  spareball.

The house I shot the 838 has synthetic overlay in the head and old wood backends.
Pattern is 37 ft and buffed to 43ft.
Above ground ball returns and no hand dryers.
If you seen old photo's from the 40-50's bowling centers.
This would fit right in.

Mike, don't forget to let them know they're still using three pound, four ounce pins.

Or, was it 52 ounces?
