Neptune surface
« on: January 16, 2008, 02:51:56 AM »
Has anyone ever dulled their Neptune?  I was considering taking it down to 2000 or maybe even 1000 in hopes to smooth out the breakpoint some.  Mine is drilled 5X4 pin high.

Mine is smooth polished but I took it to 4000 and at my house it smoothed out a little more but my carry seemed to improve from the outside angles.  I took it down to 2000 once and it kinda defeated the purpose of the ball, it read the lanes way to early for me.  I bowl on wood lanes with guardian heads so that could be a major factor too.

The Planet series coverstocks are NOT weak, the cores enable them to be used on ... milder ... oil patterns.

I'd also suggest 4000 Abralon matte finish as a starting point. If that does not suffice, see if you can get either a very USED 2000 grit Abralon or, preferably, a 3000 grit Trizact pad.
3000 grit Trizact pad: http://www.costplustools.com/store-products-3M02075-3M%99-Trizact%99-Hookit%99-II-Foam-Disc,-6%22,-P3000C-grit_40621.html

I hit it with a used 2k pad and used it at 2 houses last night.  Results were great.  I can start with my Neptune on a fresh medium house shot and switch to the Pluto drilled weaker (6X4.5 pin high) if necessary.  Kinda backwards but the Pluto gives me soo much length with this drilling.  My perfect 2 ball combo for a house shot right now.

Trizact seems a little expensive charlest, but thanks for the link.  I'll have to go with used abralons for now.
