Looking at the core of the GI, it looks identical to the Mystic. I understand the covers between the two balls are different but will the GI offer a similiar look down the lane if it's drilled the same as the Mystic?
-
Have a GI and 2 mystics one drilled identical to the GI, The GI is stronger overall down lane and in oil. The Mystic is smoother and is a great ball just like the GI but overall weaker.
-
The Grand Illusion is much stronger than the Mystic, overall and downlane. The cover of the GI reads really well and handles a decent amount of oil OOB because it's so strong. It's a great step down from the solid Cell because it gives me a similar roll and look downlane but with much more length.
The Mystic OOB was pretty flippy downlane and was much more usable for me with grey scotchbrite by hand.

Thanks for the feedback. I really like the way my Mystic performs and since it is now discontinued I was trying to figure out if the GI would be a suitable replacement.
Changing the thread a bit, where in the line up would a Cell Pearl fit? Above the GI?
-
OOb the Cell pearl is under the GI, being a mb ball it can be stronger with more surface.
I think Cell pearl would be closer to a Mystic than a GI at box finishes.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with mrbowling regarding the Cell Pearl. The Cell Pearl is a super strong ball, much stronger than a "pearl" suggests. All 3 of mine were stronger than the GI and much stronger than a Mystic. I use my GI when I need more arc/roll downlane and the Cell Pearl when angle and overall strength downlane is needed.

I have to concur here. The Cell Pearl is a VERY strong ball, especially for a pearl. It handles plenty of oil. My Cell pearl is MUCH stronger than my GI which is much stronger than my Mystic. The Cell Pearl is a little bit longer than the GI but MUCH stronger in the last 20 feet. GI is strong enough but definitely arcy. Mystic is a good ball but requires less oil than the other two.

Don't argue with an idiot people watching may not be able to tell the difference.
