I've been following a thread in alt.sport.bowling newsgroup its called "top selling ball"

the org. poster made this statement in one post in the thread-

"I was asking the pro shop guy about trading in my old ball's for a
cell and both he and pro bowler dave husted who ownes the alley I was
at, both told me that it was the same as the storm "special agent"
that I already had."

then in a later post he said this in response to someone who has these balls. who said the cell hooked more than the special agent-

Now I know the cores are way different. Am I right that the coverstocks are different also? I'd say they are not the same.

The SA is supposed to be an R2S solid resin (edited).
The Cell is supposed to be solid reactive urethane (resin).

I (personally) assume the Cell's coverstock is VERY similar to the Dimension's coverstock. If the R2X coverstock is identical to the R2S, like Mr. Husted says, and the Cell does not use the asymmetric core that RG says it does, then the Storm and the ROto-Grip management are lying to their customers. I prefer to think that this is not the case. I think Mr. Husted should show proof or retract his statement.

The cores are definitely supposed to different. The Cell's is also asymmetric.

With certain drillings, and with certain releases and used on certain lane surfaces and oil patterns, the ball reactions of the Cell and the SA may be similar and that MIGHT be what is provoking this statement.

Now this was a say what? from the same guy.

The X-Calibur! Man this pro shop must have some old inventory Or is there a new release I missed. Maybe he meant the X-Calibur was the hottest back in its day.

By the logic in the quote in the original post, basically any reactive resin ball is the same ball as any other reactive resin ball.

The Special Agent and Cell are very different.  The Cell has a stronger coverstock that tends to pick up an earlier roll.  The Special Agent has a lower RG core that revs up more quickly off the spot than the Cell.  These combine to make the Special Agent a little longer and a little more angular and not as good at cutting through heavier oil.

You must be from the Vancouver/Portland area?  I know Husted owns a few bowling alleys down there and Schlegel bowls and lives in that area.  It is nice to see some other pacific northwesters on here!
