Anyone have the chance to use these two balls. I have been throwing
Roto for the several years and need an upgrade over my current equipment.
Any opinions, from ballreviews it appears the Pearl Cell is much more agreesive. I am looking for something under the Cell, but not for dry lanes.
Thoughts, opinions much appreciated.

Based off limited experience throwing both at a Storm/Rotogrip Open House.... the Cell Pearl is much, much more angular and a few boards stronger overall. However, it needs some friction to really make its move. The Grand Illusion is smoother and can handle a fair bit of oil since it has a solid coverstock (polished OOB).

I had both. I got them both to use for med oil. Both drilled 5x3, in my case the the grand illusion was the better ball after the cell. With the polish the grand illusion was strong in the mids and snappier than I would have liked. Without the polish @ 2000 it was a terrific compliment to the cell. The cell pearl didn't wow me all that much. I wouldn't call it a bad ball though because it seems so many others love it.

keenone: thank you for your input, I have heard the same about the Pearl Cell. You either love it or hate it. I don't want a medium ball that is going to be a monster on the littliest bit of dry. I think I can get a GI at a real good price seeing it has been on the marker awhile.

NY Mike,
The Cell Pearl is too much for just the medium conditions. It is a very strong ball for a pearl and needs head oil. For me the CP is MUCH stronger than my GI..if you check my profile both are drilled almost identical.
If you are looking at a great ball for the THS, and any type of medium oil condition you can't go wrong with the GI...really solid piece.
Hope this helps!
Mike
