Author Topic: Hectic vs. Hustle Ink (Read 5881 times)

A couple of weeks ago, I went to pick up my Dare Devil from my PSO. We were discussing finding me a Hectic, as I have nothing to go under the DD. They can't get it because it's discontinued, but I told him I could find it online.

We were talking through some other things, and he asked me if I heard of the Ink. He showed me the specs blah blah blah, and seems to be adamant that this new Hustle will be "it" for me.

Let me say, I trust this guy, and I know he's not trying to just "sell" me a ball (even though it may read that way).

Based on what info we have - do you all see the Ink competing with the Hectic, or them serving as a great 1-2 punch for dry/lighter side?

Hard to say. The Ink looks to be a really interesting ball but the opinions on what it could be are all over the place.

With the previous Hustle balls being stronger than what their intended use is I wouldn't have much faith in this one being an real option for dry lanes either. The solid coverstock and their statements about it being the earliest and smoothest of the bunch don't exactly scream light oil to me although they will try and push it as such.

Now, could it be a ball to go under the Dare Devil? Sure, there's a lot of room to play with there. But I would definitely wait until it's out and the masses start reporting in before buying. Balls for dryer lanes aren't easy to find/predict before they're actually out on the market.

The Hectic will more than likely be the better bet for drier conditions regardless though so if that's the hole you're trying to fill I would try and find one online ASAP.

I would say one of the Match Up's could be considered too. I'd say the Ink will give a different look but not quite a dry/light lane ball. Hectic should play like a weaker version of the Dare Devil on light oil in my opinion.

It's all how you define lane conditions. I didn't say heavy. I said medium-heavy in other words above medium which for me is about where the Dare Devil sits. IF you read my stats. in profile which the majority of you do not list I am slightly rev dominant and 14 mph at pins and 16 mph off hand.

Meh just pointing out the Dare Devil isn't a heavy oil ball and if used on a true heavy oil condition it'll skate on you. Just giving feedback, no hostility intended.

I ordered an Ink so I'll see, but I can't see these two being in the same universe. Hectic will actually be my comparison ball in the video most likely, so I'll post back here and let you know, but I'm expecting the Ink to be a lot stronger. Like a LOT stronger.

I hope so, but doubtful. Loco Solid is one of my favorites of all time, but I'm expecting a super heavy roll, a ton of chug, and a whole lot of meh at the backend. This was pulled directly from the description on the website:

"Reaction wise, even though it is shiny and even though it is solid. Of the three different Hustle's, this is by far the earliest rolling and most predictable. So on those drier conditions or the shorter oil conditions this ball will not be as jerky or responsive off the friction."

That terrifies me. All the other Hustles are chuggy puke monsters. Smoother wet/dry transition I like, but earlier? Who knows, might be my favorite ball of all time. I'll give it a chance, but not holding my breath. If I like it though, I'll definitely eat a lot of crow on the video.

its a low end $80 ball....if its good......i still gets rerplaced next season, if its bad it still gets replaced next season haha

i am one of those guys who doesnt do urethane or plastic or tropicals.

sometimes a hyroad is the weakest ball i carry (sometimes) so something like this is a breath of fresh air for my bag.

shout solid, loco solid, hustle as long as it gets down the lane its not rocket science to make the adjustments necessary to score....

were making this hustle sound like a nightmare lol
