Help from any Roto Grip ball fans!
« on: February 12, 2004, 12:15:09 AM »
Hi all! I have a Hammer sling blade which I love when there is oil in the
heads but when its totally fried I have a hard time controlling it.  My Ball
driller told me about this Sonic X.  Now, what is better the solid or the pearl?
I was told that the solid is better because the control is better. And once
the polish on a pearl ball is gone it gets a little squirrly.  I'm kind of leaning
toward the solid sonic X but what do you guys think.  Thanks for your help!

Don't look past the NEW Sonic Boom. Long just like the Sonic X but with a much bigger backend.  Drilled stack leverage on fresh top hat played up the 4 board and this thing just turned when it hit the dry and tore the rack apart.  An amazing ball for small dollars.  Doesn't like oil but I see it working well on light to light medium conditions.  I am anxious to see what it will do on 2nd and 3rd shift.

I have the Solid because even though the pearl isn't flippy , it's flippier than the Solid........

Honestly, I think the Boom might be a tad too close to the Sling Blade, I'd opt for the Solid..........

I agree with Dale, I've heard many more compliments about the sonic boom and you can get one at buddies pro shop for $68.00. this is the same ball a gentleman shot over 2300+ all events in one of the midwestern states, which was the first time ever. It's on their website if interested.

Just an update on my Sonic X post.  Got one last thursday and threw it a few times at the drillers lanes.  Went to my thursday night league, 259-252-268=779 on a medium Christmas tree.  30 out of 36 strikes.  First game 10 stikes.  Second game first 8 then punched the head for 4-7-6-9 got 2, then spare and closed it out (10 strikes).  3rd game rang the 10 the first two shots, (opened on the second 10) and made a two board move with my feet playing the same line I had played from the first frame of game one and threw the next 10 in a row.  This ball had no flare, didn't even return an oil line and recovered like a champ if I pushed it a couple boards wide.  Took out the 10 pins like the legs got chopped out of them. I am 59 years old and haven't been this excited over a ball for years.

Sorry guys, wasn't sonic x it was the new Sonic Boom.  JEFF, had just read your post on Sonic X and I guess I had it in my head.  Sorry for the confusion.  I have two honor scores this year, 300 Revmaster and 299 Inferno (On ABC Echo lanes mixed) and I can honestly say I have more confidence in the Sonic Boom than I had in either of the other two.  I realize this was the first set, am anxious to try it Sunday 4pm mixed league on wood guardian, following 7 hours of little tikes throwing plastic against the bumpers as the lanes are always an adventure on Sunday and this was the condition I thought it might be good for.

pure fuel. its big enough to eat up some oil, and makes like barry sanders when it finds dry.

side step, and WHOOSH!!!

i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. can i carry the 7 and level the deck with a $60 ball?
