Orig. Cell coverstock used only once?
« on: December 26, 2010, 03:17:26 AM »
One of the "best" coverstock( Cytoplacmic Solid) was used on the Or. Cell. I've got "many" games on it( over 600) and still going good. Then they came out with the Mutant; etc. with different "formulae".

Alas, the Mutant did not last at all! pretty dead after 200 games( I take good care of my balls and extract oil frequently). Now I hesitate to get the Theory. What's the chance of getting the Cyto. Solid on the Theory core?

I doubt if anybody can answer that..........but I can dream......

The Cover on the Theory is a new formulation and is different from the Cytoplasmic and Cytoplasmic Plus Covers.

It's a good bit more than just additives that make the covers different.

I would not hesitate to get a Theory.  You will be impressed.

My original Cell tamed down a lot after the first 50 games.  I also drilled another with the same layuout and it wasn't as good as the original, suggesting some variation in quality control.  Jury is still out on the Theory, but the lower rg core will help, if the shell does tame down.

Yeah, I experienced the same thing with my Cell. While I was glad it didn't die, after 50 games it became a completely different ball for me. Both of them rolled fantastic though, and this was perhaps one of my favorite balls of all time.

I have not experienced this at all. My Cells have stayed very strong and they are well above 250 games each. I do clean them after every use and a hot water bath or bake every 50 games max. It does absorb oil but if you get it out they will stay the same for a long time.
