So the balldriller wants some opinions.

So, the man that sells more rotogrip in all of Canada, wants to drill his first rotogrip ball......


i have been using alot of brunswick recently and play mostly on Mediums. never play on any kind of heavy.

great success with the Ambush, and some with the rampage. The wizard has been good on mediums with carrydown and mushy backends.

I am looking at maybe replacing the Rampage. it does seem to be a little flat.
so i was looking at a Horizon pearl. Something a little stronger with more backend.

what does everyone else think?

Rampage is probably a little weaker than the Horizon Pearl in terms of oil-handling capability.  Epic Saga might also do the trick.  

Wizard = Slightly earlier rolling Horizon Solid, with a bit less total hook.

Ambush = Maybe a dulled Venus drilled stacked leverage?

If you are just looking to replace the Rampage, I would try either the Horizon or the Saga.

AMbush is probably equivalent to the RS-P, rather than the Venus. The Venus has too mild a core and not as strong a cover.

yeah the venus is a smoother light oil ball.

i was thinking saga, i have drilled alot of them but i had past experiences, with the storm paradigm which i never liked at all. it was too hook set. i didn't like my red zone much, it was too sharp. i had a vapour zone which was too early.

i know the saga is different, than both the red zone and vapour. i also have an awesome flip that i use from time to time, but it seems to roll out if i try to cover too many boards with it.

I'd like to get roger on here to pick his brain.

The Saga OOB is a kickass ball. It snaps really hard depending on how you drill but it's controllable. The hybrid coverstock is amazing. Today i shot 257. One thing i will say is that it's predictable once find a line.

Have the venus as well and when the Saga overhooks, i pull that out and it's a step down, so i have the opportunity to keep on striking. Good luck with that.

I've drilled up a ton of rotos in the past month.  I'd definately start with the two Horizons.  They're just too good not to try first.  Then I'd throw a Battle and Venus into the mix.  Believe it or not, my OOB finish Saturn is actually in between my two Horizons.  Polished up, it's a touch below the Horizon.

The Venus can really RIP on the backend with a strong drill patterns.  BowlingMyTMouse has one layed out with the pin 2" above his PAP on the VAL and this thing makes one of the most wicked left turns I've ever seen.  

Retro Ressurection and RSX are some good ones too if you can find them.

Hey Timothy

Give me or Roger a call in the Office and we can dial you in for the right ball choice to fit into the eqation.  I need to know some particulars about your PAP, Tilt, Rev Rate and also ball speed.  These will help me and Roger to give you an idea of what ball will work best for you.  Thanks
