Title: Horizon Solid = Atomic Charge?

Anybody throw both these balls?  How do they compare? Specs and Coverstock they look very close.

^^Especially when two completely different coverstocks are in question.  The Horizon Solid uses one of the strongest resin bases on the market now.  It's way stronger and more durable than the Monsoon cover on the Atomic Charge.  If there was a Storm ball that is close to the Horizon Solid it'd probaly be the Dark Thunder, and even then the Horizon Solid is still a touch more.

I thought the Monsoon coverstock was one of the stronger ones that Storm has. And since Storm makes/made both balls I assumed a strong Storm coverstock and a strong RotoGrip coverstock had similar characteristics.

Nope.  They aren't close.  Monsoon was strong, but it had a high oil soak rate.  The monsoon based covers gave you a good 50-60 games in a high oil volume enviornment before the poures became clogged.  It was a strong resin but it had a sponge quality to it that soaked in and retained oil.  The Horizon solid is a completely different cover with a completely different cover base and it is much stronger.

The Monsoon is/was a strong coverstock, but time marches on.

Storm "assembles" the ball, but Roto-Grip has a different resin supplier/manufacturer than Storm does, as far as I have learned. So Storm does not use the coverstock on the Horizon in any of their balls.
