Horizon/SSSE comparison
« on: April 05, 2007, 06:36:57 AM »
I was just wondering how closely those 2 balls were in reaction if drilled the same.  I recently traded away my SSSE and am looking at getting a Horizon to replace it.  Any info will help.

In my opinion...about the same reaction. I never saw any difference when I had both. I ended up trading the SSSE and keeping the Horizon. The Horizon is an wonderful bowling ball for medium lane conditions using a track area shot or further outside.

I have Horizon Pearl, horizon solid and the mystic out of the series the Mystic is the closest to what you are getting now. Smooth upfront with a nice hard arcing motion to the pin deck, i have the ssse and the mystic drilled identical.

I had an horizon pearl drilled the same way but it cracked in 2 pieces a few weeks ago, it had plug in it so i reordered a horizon pro pin this time from bowlingball.com for 69.95 shipped.

The solid is much stronger in oil and is more of an arcing ball than the pearl like it should be, i personally like the mystic and the solid alittle better than the pearl.

More push and snap.  OOB my SSSE was awesome to watch, massive flip then it seemed to tame down quite alot but became a very good all around ball for me but I will admit that I enjoyed the skid snap look I got OOB.  That is what I am looking to duplicate with the Horizon.  I would like to use it for the deep inside angle.

I would find the SSSE more Skid/snap, while the Horizon starts up a little earlier and has a more controlled back end.
