Illusion Surface

Anyone have any thoughts on how to get more length from the Illusion?  I am thinking about how applying Beans to the oob polished surface.  Since the beans has grit in it will it bring the surface up smoother around 3000 polished?  Or will the abrasives just remove the factory polish?  Or would it be advisable to hit it with 4000 before polishing?

I've played around with the surface on the illusion and I've gotten more length by starting with 2000 (since the Illusion is 2000 and polished) to remove the polish then used 4000.  Then I polished the surface with an extender polish.  I definitely got more length but i also increased the responsiveness of the ball to the friction.  It didn't hook more but it was much quicker in it's movement down lane which did make controlling the break point a little hard. The amount of length will depend on the lane surface and oil pattern.  
I haven't played with the Beans Sauce as of yet but from what I've seen it's a good option for length without sacrificing backend reaction.  But since I haven't tried it yet I can't give you a good idea of what would happen.
The best way to see what happens with your length is to just go and experiment to find what will be sweet spot length that will work for you.

Different coverstock, but I have had very good success with my Venus by taking the coverstock up to 4000 Abralon and adding Beans' Secret Sauce.  I get excellent length and a hard arc on the backend with this surface adjustment.  I didn't like the OOB condition, but it is now the first ball out of the bag.  With this surface, it can get squirrly if there is carrydown, but moving the breakpoint right to get around it will solve the problem.  Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the tips, but I have one more question.  What would be the difference if I just added Beans to the factory finish. Would the grit in the beans take the surface up while polishing?
