How drillable is this Cell?
« on: July 06, 2008, 11:36:57 AM »
Subject says it all.

Is this ball good to drill for a righty? It has 2.34oz top weight.

The one RG sent me looked almost exactly like that.

I put the pin in the ring finger I put the MB just right of the thumb hole and the CG would up in the finger negative quadrant, with 5/8 oz finger weight and some unknown amount but legal negative side weight. It made, near as I can tell, no difference in ball reaction. It rolled well on medium heavy to heavy oil and had a good backend with lots of control and pleny of hitting power.

I would rather have put the pin under the ring finger, but it workded fine anyway.

Oh, I used no weight hole.

FYI I am right handed with medium-low (15 - 16 mph) ball speed and 275 - 300 rpms, or I was when I got and threw that ball.

its realy good for a righty because it will put the cg right in ur grip center so it should be actually a very good thing.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

Potentially, It is in theory good for a righty in most scenarios. The cell though is so strong its a ball that i'd like to keep the MB a little ways from the VAL as it will roll early enough being the ball it is. Along with the MB i personally see the pin being 4-1/2" is normally a good call, with that taken into consideration a weight hole on your NAP may be needed.

But there are ways to work around it with a stronger layout and such, I just would be very careful in what you do as the cell is a very strong piece.

well you can really set it up strong and likely not need a weight hole

Shouldn't be a problem for a right handed bowler. Here's a pic of my pro cg gravity the  cg was about 3 1/2 inches left of a line drawn from the pin to the mb. Ball ended up with 1/8th negative side and turns real hard on the back
