how to locate the pin
« on: April 17, 2005, 11:28:06 PM »
Does anyone know how to locate the pin on a
ball that has had the pin drilled out and has
been plugged?  I have a defcon-II that looks
to have been plugged at least 3 times.  A guy
that used to run a pro shop gave it to me
several years ago and no I have no idea where
the pin might be.

thanks

Pacrat,

While there is no for sure way to locate the pin like there would be to locate the CG, you can approximate where it is based on where the balls logos are (hopefully they are not resurfaced off). Look at the ball with the Roto-Grip logo at 12 o'clock, and the balls marked CG directly below it. The pin then should be towards the 1-2 o'clock position, probably somewhere in one of the finger holes that is already plugged. If you are going to plug/redrill the ball, I wouldn’t be too concerned with the *EXACT* location of the pin, because there is usually a 1/4"-1/2" variance with an average bowlers starting PAP. This 1/2" variance will give you enough tolerance that you can ball park the balls actual pin location with out it affecting your ball's reaction.

thanks,

It has been plugged and resurfaced but all logos
are still clearly visible.  will be it's 4th
drill  the finger holes are really all at 90
degrees to one another, but the idea about
placing the RG logo at 12 o'clock and working
from there sounds like a plan.
