Haven't compared them side to side YET, but I'm drilling a new IQ Tour to compare to the Son!Q when it comes out so I'll have the opportunity. However, I've had two Inks now and 4 Tours, and for me, everything that's good about the IQ Tour Solid lives in the Ink, with the major difference that the reaction is further down the lane for the Ink. It's not quite as much midlane and more punch downlane. I feel it's just as controllable and stable as the IQ Tour, or it controls the lane just as well, but has a more beneficial motion at the pins and through the pins. IQ Tour is a good solid 2 boards stronger though, if not 3. Now, my thing has always been man, if they could make an IQ Tour Solid that wasn't quite as heavy rolling and had a bit more pop, that would be the perfect reaction. My big thing is shape at the pins though, and the IQ is tough for me to get to shape up enough to get the pins down. My 4" pin 2000 Ink IS the best sport ball I've ever thrown, just BARELY edging out the Trick. Even at 4 inches it doesn't flare a ton, just enough, but the 2000 surface in combination does the trick.
IQ Tour Solid is actually #5 on my list of best sport balls though. Ink is 1, Trick is 2, original Taboo is 3, original Covert Revolt is 4, IQ Tour Solid is 5. I'm sure the Gamebreaker 2 and original Black Widow deserve spots there too, but I never threw them. Ink fits the best with the high rev game we have now, IQ can be too early, Trick can be too strong, and obviously anything asym is even more overkill. I just can't recommend it enough, and the fact that it's this legitimately good and so cheap doesn't compute with me. That cover on the Madcap core would make me squeal like a little girl.
Has anyone experimented with an Ink at 2000 and compared to an IQ Tour at the same surface? Curious how much difference there is between these two in shape and total hook at the same surface prep.
