Hustle Ink - With Surface
« on: April 14, 2018, 09:35:58 PM »
For those of you who are lucky enough to own a Hustle INK, have you tried it with surface? Say around 2000 since that seems to be about the most popular grit. I'm wondering where it fits in a bag after taking the shine off and roughing up the cover. Seems like the INK wouldn't be much of a lighter oil option at that point, but would it get bumped up in the medium length/volume range?

Just drilled mine with my favorite drill, pin above mid fing with a small cg kick. which is 5 1/2 x 4 for me. Tried it for first time in league last night. Not good, way to strong off the dry. Our league shot is pretty wet dry, so this ball just made it way to over under. In reading the reviews on the ink most people said it’s smooth and rolls like a weaker iq solid. Not even close for a league shot. I think it would be better with a low pin, or more surface to smooth it out. I’m sure it will be ok on broken down flatter patterns for me. I may have to take some shine off like some of you have to make it more versatile. Definitely not a ball for dry lanes, it’s just to strong. It will be a conditional ball for me, not a benchmark like some of the reviews. I have my hyroad for that anyway. Like hack said, I have to use it more on different conditions yet for a full accurate assessment. What the hell you can’t go wrong for the price. Definitely a ton of hook for the buck.

There was a ball a few years ago called the Loco Solid. I think that ball was amazing for light oil. Definitely agree that the Hustle's aren't generally for light oil, but apparenty the market demands for more hook. Guarantee the Hustle Ink has out-sold the Loco series as a whole.

I'd trade all of my stashed Hectics and a couple NIBs of whatever somebody wanted for a NIB 15 Loco Solid.  It was the real MVP.

To the OP, have you considered taking it to 4000 without skipping steps? If that is too much, almost certain newspaper could do the trick.

Does newspaper really break the shine down?

No, but it adds more length like polish without quickening the response time nearly as much.

I just had a Hustle Ink drilled this evening.  Had it drilled pin up and the reaction was overly sharp off the spot.  Put it on the spinner when I got home and knocke the shine off and took it to 2500 grit.  Will see how it reacts tomorrow at SD State tournament in warm up.

I don't have one, was looking for information from those that do on where the INK fits after knocking the shine off. Ended up going with a HYB instead since that sounded like it fit more of what I was looking for overall anyways. And it does. Still might go for an INK, but would probably keep it with polish (though not necessarily at OOB condition).

Say, I have a LOCO Solid, 15 lbs, NIB. Trade it straight up for an IQ Tour.
15.2 total, 2.0 Top, Pin 2-2.5.
