Hustle SAY and Hustle PRO Videos
« on: October 14, 2016, 09:06:38 AM »
Only like 4 months late, but I actually had a lot of trouble with these two.  Now, the planets aligned and they actually reacted well enough recently to get the videos done, but I'd definitely recommend a weaker layout and some serious coverstock adjustments on these two.  Core is WAY too strong for the OOB finish on especially the PRO.  Also figured out something that should have been obvious with my editing software . . PRO video is a bit fuzzy, but I fixed it for the SAY video.  Thanks for watching.

Did you ever get a decent amount of use out of the PRO at a finish with surface? I'm mulling over the idea of getting one and drilling it with the pin under the fingers and taken down to 2000. The idea is to end up with a benchmark(ish) reaction for medium length/volume lanes.

If there are any low-end balls you could have a chance of doing that with it's definitely Roto Grip's HP1 line so I'm thinking this might not be too risky of an experiment. Especially with the core in the Hustle balls.

Those hp1 balls are great once you get em broke in.  That OOB polish makes em squirty..

I've actually had some success with the polished 1500 OOB Storm finish. At least on the Totally Defiant, Shout and Unhinged.

There's been a few Hustle PROs and SAYs drilled up in my area but I haven't seen one made up in the mold I'm envisioning. Don't think I've ever seen anybody take the polish off any of the HP1 balls now that I think about it. The vast majority are pin up too.

Like I said before this doesn't seem too risky given the general strength of the HP1 balls and the core and specific cover of the PRO... but I'm not much of a gambler either.  ;D Can't seem to find much relevant information anywhere else so hopefully someone on here has some (or has at least seen) experience with this.

My shout was bad for the first 12 games...then it was amazing for about another 40.  Basically became unpolished...but those 40 games with the polish kinda worn and tracked..won me tons of money in brackets, side pots, and tournaments.  Just gotta get through the squirty stage

I just took the box surfaces off before I started throwing them. 500/3000. Makes for better read of the lane plus it doesn't make the ball go sideways at the exit point.

I have a Pro pin in ring that I've knocked the polish off with a 2000 pad by hand. I wasn't looking for a medium benchmark ball, I just hated the ball at OOB. It has a really heavy roll when I had enough dry (which I liked), but it skated at any sniff of oil or any accidental speed bump. That didn't work at all on my overblocked 42' house shot, it was EXTREMELY over under. So I knocked off the polish and now it's... slightly less over/under?

I've since tried it on a few other house shots that are more blended with a bit shorter of a pattern and it's been better at those houses. However, though adding some surface helped keep the ball from squirting on oil somewhat, it hasn't fixed the issue with speed sensitivity. I'm prone to blasting it through the breakpoint, even with surface. On these other houseshots I find the ball usable but haven't run into a situation where it's my best option.

It's worth noting: I'm a high speed/high revs, speed dominant bowler, around 18 mph at the pin deck. Someone a little softer might find this ball more usable.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound all that promising, although my speed averages a bit over 16 at the pin deck so maybe it would be more usable for me. Still, this will certainly make me reconsider my options.

CoorZero,

I don't think you will have an issue with using a Hustle PRO for what you described. Might need to go with a 4 inch pin down if you want to ensure a benchmark motion as well as changing the surface. With those intervals, I can see that ball serving just as you described.
