Can you say Value? Value is when the performance beats the expectations. This is what you get with the Hustle line. The Hustle BRY and Hustle XRAY, the newest entries into the HP1 line, are the definition of value. Both have their place. The Hustle XRAY is earlier and smoother down lane where the Hustle BRY is cleaner in the fronts and more boom down lane. Pick the one that fits the gap in your bag or buy both. Lol. If you bowl in a high friction bowling center, the BRY is probably the best answer. The XRAY will be the better choice for bowlers wanting to keep their target in front of them and play straighter.

The latest edition to the Hustle line is the BRY which features the VTC Hybrid reactive coverstock with the tried-and-true Hustle core. At 15 pounds the RG is medium at 2.53 with a differential of .030. The BRY is finished with Reacta Gloss. The Hustle line continues to provide bowlers with excellent performance at the entry level price point. Don’t let the price tag fool you…this ball delivers a lot of bang for your buck! The BRY is a great ball for the beginner as well as the tournament bowler. The BRY with its hybrid coverstock, provides excellent length on medium to light oil conditions. The backend motion of the BRY will be more angular than the Hustle X-Ray. For me the I need to be about 2 -3 boards left with my feet when compared to the X-Ray. The BRY will allow you to play closer to the friction, but because of the quicker response, I need to have a slightly more open angle through the front part of the lane. Another quality option for a fraction of the cost of the high-performance balls.

My updated specs: Ball speed: average 15.5 mph. - Rev Rate: 425 – Axle tilt: 16 degrees – Axis rotation 70 degrees.

Welcome the next generation in the Hustle Line, the all-new Hustle B-R-Y, burgundy, red, and yale blue are the colors on this new Hustle, along with VTC hybrid coverstock. The coloring is amazing on this ball, you know when it goes down the lane it’s a B-R-Y. For the coverstock prep, leaning from changing my M+M from the Reacta Shine finish to 2000ab then hitting the cover with Rough Edge compound. For a little earlier and smoother back-end reaction, which the backend reaction is weaker than the new Tropical Surge Midnight, which is one of the first Surges pored in Utah in years, but weaker than the Hyped Hybrid which has been my “go to ball” the past 2 ½ years until the X-Ray and the Lighting Blackout was released a few weeks ago. The B-R-Y is the best hybrid version of the Hustles in nearly 7 years by ha having the best overall length and pin carry versus several other hybrid version and several polished solid versions like the Camo version which was recently in the Hustle line. The ball fits in the bag a step of from my X-Ray with a 5 x 4 x 4 layout and a step down from the Storm Lighting Blackout. The Blackout has more overall length, but with less “snap” in the backend. The B-R-Y creates longer length, but sharper angles into the pocket.

Review:
I have always been a Hustle Fan and can recommend theses balls with confidence. The Hustle line provides a lot of bang for the buck. I use the Hustles in two of the dryer houses I sometimes bowl at and have shot very well with them. The Hustle line was designed to be predictable with great performance. The New Hustle B-R-Y gives me more length and back end than the X-Ray and plays well from different lines with very good hit and carry. The colors of the B-R-Y are very nice. The first time I used this ball for a set, I shot 714 while subbing on a lower volume house pattern. I was able to use the B-R-Y all three games with minor moves on the lane. The Hustles act like a much more expensive ball on the right pattern. I drilled the B-R-Y and X-Ray at the same time with the same layout and threw them at a few centers together and the B-R-Y provides more length and backend due to the cover. The total boards are close but the shapes are different with the X-Ray being smoother. I will put this ball above my Surge and below my Tour Dynamix in total hook. This ball should be a great choice for a newer bowler or a beast in the hands of a high rev or no thumb bowler.

Summary:
The Hustle B-R-Y is a beautiful looking ball.
This ball provides excellent length and backend.
This ball would be a great first reactive ball for most bowlers.

The Hustle BRY a new color addition to the reliable and hard working Hustle line up. The Hustle Core is paired up with the VTC Hybrid Reactive Coverstock to give you quality performance on the lighter to medium oil conditions. The ball comes with Reacta-Gloss on it out of the box which gives it more length than the X Ray. I’m able to go to this ball later in game 2 and in game 3 of my league since its a little quicker off the friction so I’m able to move right more and get the ball to give me a little more angle down lane when the XRay becomes a little to slow off the spot. New bowlers will love this ball for its performance at the price point, and players who are veterans looking for a weaker ball for the burnt up house shot will love this ball.

The Roto Grip has added two more Hustles to this iconic ball line, the Hustle X-Ray and B/R/Y.
The Hustle B/R/Y is cleaner version of the new Hustles, which features the iconic Hustle Core wrapped in the VTC hybrid reactive cover. As a medium to low rev player, this ball is great on light and dry oil patterns. I was able to play in the track area and down and in up the five board. The Hustle B/R/Y is more aggressive on the backend of the lane than the X-Ray, because of the VTC hybrid reactive cover with Reacta Gloss. What more can be said about the Hustle line that hasn't already been said? It is without a doubt the best "bang for your buck" in bowling. The VTC cover with the Hustle core has the 34th sanctioned 900 series under it's belt, along with countless other honor scores and accolades. The VTC Pearl cover on the Hustle BRY provides length and control on the driest of lanes. I drilled mine very strong with a 3.5x2x0 layout and it's a great complement to the Hustle X-Ray. It gets down the lane easier than the X-Ray, a good 10 feet longer before it starts making it's motion. It's a great perfect choice for dry house shots and burn squads for tournaments.

The latest addition the Hustle BRY is wrapped in the VTC hybrid. The BRY is cleaner down lane compared to X-ray. I used the layout of 45 x 4 x45. The main center I bowl in is a high friction surface so this is a great selection out of my bag. The BRY is a great choice for all skill levels.

I drilled my HUSTLE BRY pin up fairly strong with a 4.5 x 3.5 x 2 VLS layout. I have touched the surface up a couple of times with a 1500 and 2000 pad.

This is a good ball to get thru the fronts when your bigger & medium balls start to read too quickly. I compared it with a couple of my other better medium pieces in the SUMMIT PEAK and THE ROAD. The HUSTLE BRY is a much slower read than THE ROAD. When my THE ROAD and SUMMITT PEAK are too much ball, the BRY is slower/smoother off the spot for me. The HUSTLE BRY was much better on hooking patterns for me and also defined friction to the right of my target. I could play closer to the oil line with the BRY and not have it jump like the other two did.

As usual, Roto Grip nailed the starter piece ball. The HUSTLE BRY is much more than a starter ball and can help the better player out with a smooth controllable option on hooking lanes.

PAP is 5 5/16 R 1 3/16 Up. Rev Rate: 400. Speed: 16.5. Drilled this piece with the Pin above the bridge and the CG kicked out 1” from the palm. I threw this piece on a Fresh house 43’ pattern. Out of box ball motion was clean through the fronts with a controllable motion on the backend. I compared this piece to the Hustle USA (1-1 Right) & Hustle X-Ray (2-2 Right). And In each of their reviews, I would like to take a closer look at how the coverstocks developed by Roto Grip keep the Hustle line an industry standard in level-one bowling balls. So, let’s take a look at the Hustle B-R-Y Hybrid!

The Hustle Core has become an industry standard since its Introduction in 2017. And The Hustle Core has proven to be a predictable and reliable workhorse for nearly any type of bowler! And I found those same consistent results with the B-R-Y. The Hustle core has a smooth and well-rounded motion that allows you, as the bowler, to control it! As a down-and-in player, I like that the Hustle Core responds to what I want it to do and allows me, the bowler, to control my shot! And for a medium RG and differential, the Hustle Core has plenty of destructive power through the pin deck. So, don’t let “level 1” push you away; the Hustle Core for any style or level of bowler will deliver responsive results time and time again!

Let’s talk about what makes the Hustle B-R-Y an excellent choice– the coverstock! The new VTC (Vertical Traction Control) Hybrid coverstock on the B-R-Y is a finely tuned mixture of solid and pearl. The Vertical Traction Control in this hybrid mixture gives the Hustle B-R-Y a crisp and clean biting traction down the lane without being too harsh in the heads or too squirrely off the pattern. So, if you are looking for a smooth and well-defined motion, the VTC Hybrid is an excellent choice.

Those who read my reviews know that Surface is my best friend, especially in weekly league night bowling! And with the Roto Grip line of VTC coverstocks I love the versatility it allows me as a bowler! And the VTC Hybrid found on the B-R-Y is a great example. For my higher speed and low rev style, the Reacta Gloss finish was okay but didn’t give me the clean and crisp motion I like. So I sanded my B-R-Y to 2000-grit Abralon, and my B-R-Y came alive and performed equally well on fresh oil or burned-up summer conditions and provided the predictable skid, hook and roll I could depend on! So, I would tell any bowler not to be afraid to find your sweet spot surface because, with the right surface on VTC Hybrid coverstock, you are in for a great night of bowling!

So, if you are a new bowler starting your first fall season, the Hustle B-R-Y is a great all-around choice for your first ball, and it will provide you with a great season full of fun and excitement. I’ve been considering trying out the Hustle series for a while, and after some convincing from my son Chaise, I finally decided to get the Hustle RIP. I absolutely loved it, so when Roto Grip released the Hustle B/R/Y and Xray, I knew I had to order them, along with the M&M. In my experience, the B/R/Y is a step down from the RIP, offering a bit more length and a sharper angle. It reminds me of the old days, when I could position myself closer to the gutter, play a straighter line with a slight curve, and consistently hit hard thanks to the excellent entry angle.
I’ve always wanted equipment that allows me to avoid covering too many boards and play closer to the gutter, and I’ve finally found that in the B/R/Y. I’m excited to throw this ball even more. For a ball in Roto Grip’s "lower end" lineup, the B/R/Y is still a great, hard-hitting option.
Chaise adds that he’s tried to find something comparable to the B/R/Y and can’t quite put his finger on it—it feels unique. To him, the B/R/Y is like a larger version of the After Dark Hybrid. Since his After Dark Hybrid cracked, he’s been looking for a long, angular hybrid to fill that spot, and the B/R/Y has delivered. He absolutely loves it.
Many people might hesitate to explore the lower-tier lineup from most companies, but if anyone can make a great ball for beginners or for drier lane conditions, it’s Roto Grip. Honestly, I highly recommend giving the Hustle B/R/Y, or any of the Hustles, a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
