I'm ready to give up on my cell
« on: January 20, 2009, 03:17:36 PM »
I'm about ready to give up on my cell.  I drilled it 5 1/2 pin to pap pin below grip with a 45 deg mb... Has no recovery or backend .. put a weighthole on the RG/MB spot and this helped the reaction a bit..  I have tried it from 500 abralon to 4000 polished and I just can't get the ball to work as well as my other stuff.
My Anger will outhook it dull and out backend it polished.. People kept telling me that i shouldn't have put the pin so low , that that took the reaction out of it.. but I just got a rico drilled brunswick mammoth and it is everything I wish my cell was..
The only advantage I see with my cell is at 1000 OOB ON super oily fresh heads and mids with clean backends.. but after about 4 or 5 frames that is done and the cell either hooks too early or loses the backend.
I just think my cell is taking a spot in my bag.. any suggestions.. or any offers to take it off my hands??

It is has great recovery for me. Also that is my pin location from my fingers. As for the RG marking, it is the MB, meaning it is the easiest axis for the ball's core to rotate around. As the ball flares it will try to get to this axis. That is what causes flare.

Nope, as a lot of people on here make fun of me for this because they don't believe me, my driller/coach has a new style of layout that changes how you measure your pap and changes how it is used so do not have that measurement. but since my traditional pap measurement would be in the neighborhood of 5 3/4-6 X 1/5 up we are pretty similar so it would not be very different than what it would be for you.

It has already been said that the ball is probably hooking way to early(in my third step) as was said.  A leverage drill would be even stronger.  Even at 5 1/2 pin to pap the pin down and 45 deg mb is making the ball transition way to early and more than likely killing the reaction and backend.

On most stuff I can not use 3 3/8 leverage drilling.. especially if it has a high close to .060 differential and a strong mb.
All of my stuff is 5 to 5 1/2 inches with a couple of balls at 6 inch pin to pap for even more length.  i have one anger that is drilled 4 inch pin to pap with a axis (modified)leverage drilling.
