Hysteria.....Punch Out (fill the gap)
« on: October 10, 2014, 07:47:09 PM »
Time for everyone's favorite game: fill the gap in my bag!

Just purchased a Hysteria and Punch Out (both pin up) at the start of the season and they're a great 1-2 combo for where/how I bowl. I see myself as a tweener approx 17 mph, 350rpm. My ths is med-low volume but has a defined dry area from about 1-6 with hold inside. I mainly try to ride this oil line standing about 15 with a breakpoint of 6, 7, 8. I'll burn it up with the hysteria for a game or 2 before I can move in and wheel it with the punch out.

Balls I've been looking at (in no particular order):

GB2: Would fill the void of surface. Had the original GB and loved it. Scared it would be too strong though as I don't feel as though I'd need much more ball than the Hysteria.

Asylum: Hybrid, surface. Same qualms on the strength though. Is it > Hysteria?

Hy-Road: Owned a pin up Crossroad, seemed to be too long for my liking. Owned a Victory Road pearl, was pretty over/under. Do I write off the core or do I have to try arguably the best Storm ball in recent memory?

Lights Out: LOVED my Frantic before I put a few seasons of games on it. Love my Punch Out. Is this the obvious choice?

Outcry: Was close to purchasing an UpRoar but thought this would be even more of a gem.

I'll listen to other suggestions as well, but mainly looking to stay under the Storm/Roto umbrella. I appreciate whatever insight you guys can shed. Thanks.

My vote would be the Outcry. Asylum and GB 2 are too strong fo fit in between the Hysteria. The Hy-Road is about equal in strength. The Lights Out did not fit the in between gap for myself personally. However, lots of people love it.

Too be honest I dont really see a gap or a ball that would fit perfectly in between there. If i would have to pick a ball and stay in the Utah family I would say Outcry or maybe even a Wipe Out with polish.

Lights out with surface. The outcry is stronger than advertised. I'm throwing hysteria and dropping to lights out at 4000.

Wrecker, yo.

I've been thinking about a wrecker also ever since the frantic went off the market. Think that's the closest I'm getting to a frantic in reaction?

I don't think think they're close...my frantic is smoother and earlier....
Someone else would have to chime in... Maybe a lights out is closer to the frantic?

That's a really hard hole to fit something into.  The Punch Out is stronger than advertised, and the Hysteria is a bit weaker.  The Outcry is DEFINITELY stronger than advertised, I drilled one up for my wife last night and it outhooks her Primal Rage.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Hysteria is not weak at all. It's much stronger than I expected it to be

Outcry is incredibly strong, I shot 157 first game in total disbelief in how much it hooks. 258, 279 afterwards. Misses better be to the right as anything left of target is disaster.

It's not weak, I just believe it's weaker than advertised.  At that price point competing against balls like the Black Widows and Yetis, it's just not quite as strong as they are.  Between the Hysteria and Punch Out, I'm just not sure I'd feel comfortable with any recommendation for a ball between the two, it's such a small window because the Punch Out hooks quite a bit too, it almost seems like a polished Outcry.  Can't go Hyroad Solid because out of the box it's more than the Hysteria, and if you polish it, you basically have the same ball.  Lights Out would be about the best, but I still think there's a lot of overlap with the Punch Out there.  I guess I'm not really sure why you would try to squeeze a ball in there anyway, the Hysteria should step right down to the Punch Out pretty easily.

Yeah this is probably the question I should be asking myself, lol. I guess I'm just a raging ball whore.

I think the Uproar is an interesting in the middle of the two ball.

This video is the basis for this thought.

I own a Freakn Frantic and an UpRoar a big difference.
