What's in a name?

Just curious, how many out there make ball non-purchase decisions based on the ball name?

I am asking because I sometimes see balls that look like they would perform how I want, but am turned off by the name on the ball.

The Roto Grip psychotic-themed balls and irregularly placed letters in the name don't inspire confidence, consistency, control, etc, for me.  I know it's just a name, but it is enough to make me wait to find a ball I may like better.

Anyone else or am I just being too picky?

the closest a ball as come to making me not buy it because of name are the divas. but it wouldnt stop me from making the purchase

Craziest thing all the diva balls I've seen have been thrown by guys. Most names and colors wouldn't stop me. I have a asylum and a euphoria.

The only one I can say would give me pause is The Lord Field Bloody Cross. Not trying to restart that argument just not willing to piss the guy upstairs off over a bowling ball. I'm not über religious or anything but that one just brings an unpleasant picture to the mind.

The diva balls have been great!

It would really have to have a really offensive name to cause me not to get something. Name, color, smell, it just doesn't matter much to me.

For me, name means very little. I could never buy the Bloody Cross due to the name though. That crosses a line with me.  As for colors,  if a ball fits what I want,  I buy it. If two balls fit what I want,  I pick whatever one stands out the most or is the easiest to read the reaction.  For smell,  Storm balls have triggered migraines for me before,  especially the tour fusion. One more thing about names,  I have not even considered a Track since their new naming system.

I guess I'm in the minority.  I wonder how much money the ball companies pay to designers  and marketers for coming up with names and colors for their bowling balls when it really doesn't make a difference to most as long as the ball performs?

Colors are a concern because of watching the ball and movement down lane.  Id prefer just a name and not some lame graphic that looks like a 2nd grader drew it.

The new Brunswick Bruiser.......about as stupid and phallic a pic ive seen In awhile. Would look great without the "guy" throwing a punch.

I would say I'm affected by color most.  I agree with kidlost that Brunswicks last few logos look like my 8 year old drew them. 

I know some people who only like solid colors and don't like to see the logos when the ball is rolling.  Others, like me, like multi-colors so I can see what the ball is doing.  Although I have gotten rid of a ball because of the way it looked rolling down the lane.  Sometimes the multi colors can give the illusion that the ball is rolling a certain way.

Sorry, names or colors shouldn't mean anything. If the ball has the specs and the reaction shape you are looking for buy it. If it doesn't don't.
 
And if you are worried about not seeing the ball roll, use grip color to get that for you. If you don't use inserts, or a thumb slug/interchangeable thumb...then it might be ok to pick between 2 balls with around the same specs based on color to see roll a little better, but I think those are few and far between.

You can be as picky on those things as you want considering there is a new release always around the corner and there isn't a significant technology change in years. Alls you have to decide on is color and names at this point.

Core specs will never change. They stay within the same guidelines set by USBC. Just core shapes and colors of the month.
