I need help with my game (vid inside)
« on: May 23, 2005, 05:09:17 PM »
Hi All,
Its me again, I need severe help with my timing and backswing...seems like I just get worse and worse.  I don't want my backswing so high and I keep doing something funky at the top.  I numbered each shot for reference if needed in you guys comments, so let me know, they would be greatly appreciated.  As a forewarning there is an expletive at the end of one of my shots that I didn't catch until after I edited the vid(Its just one though)  But please bring the critique on, I need it.

BMM,

Why shorten your backswing......let physics do it's part...if that's your backswing, then let it go .....

It looks like you're opening your hand a little at the top...which is really no big deal,....keeping your hand in the proper position for release.....

What we would probably need is a side view.....but it looks ok to me,....but I'm not a coach either..........

OH wait.......I just caught something.....that little strike dance can go anytime !

That camera was making me dizzy.  Seriously though, your form is not bad.  I suggest that if you do not want your backswing so high, start with the ball lower in your initial stance on the approach.  The higher you hold the ball, the more the ball's weight will influnce your backswing.

BMM why don't you come to the Clinic in Shadey grove June 3,4, and or 5. I will be there all three, I need the help.

Ron Clifton will be there to work with you on your game all 3 days. I see that you bowl out of Laurel, and Shadey Grove is not that far from Laurel.

If you are interested call Professional Bowler's Services at (301) 231-7015, or check ut the website for more infohttp://www.artisticshores.com/bes/

Hope to see you there.

Thanks guys,

Jeff...I'll try to get a side view, and I like the Strike dance...lol

Sir...That was my friend DP3 with the cam, I think he suffers from the shakes...I think I will start with the ball lower, I did it once but DP3 didn't tape it

CoachJim....I went to one of Ron's clinics a while back and I loved it, its just that I don't have the $$$ to throw at it right now.

Keep the comments coming please

James still suffers from a severely muscled backswing.  Once you let the ball fall and naturally drop through the downswing, things flow alot smoother.  Of course it takes months and months of practice though, but the good thing is you don't need a bowling ball in your hand to practice a natural relaxed swing.

The biggest problem with your swing is the release point at the bottom of the swing is to steep, you need to flatten it out.

You can flatten your release point out by:

1. Not bending at the waiste to get your armswing higher. Keep your upper body more up right this will help keep the ball from coming down into the lane and help the ball land like an airplane rather than a meteor.

2. Bend your right knee more before going into your power step. This will help promote a forward plane instead of an up and down plane of head movement at the line.

Please post a side view and I will be able to tell you more.
