its prob like 5 inch. my pap is 4 and 1/2 and the pin is just over the middle finger maybe half an inch...so around 5...i was looking for a long and not super flippy drilling and hopefully this will work...

My Neptune has the OOB surface...

For me with a 5x5 pin over ring stacked over the CG layout it gets easy length, at times too much and makes a pronounced turn to the pocket.

Looking at the core numbers and the cover it reacts a little more than I'd like it too.  It can be a little strong off the spot on fresh backends.  However this ball hates any site of carrydown or longer oils.

Compared to my Mercury drilled with the pin under the ring and the CG right an inch it is longer and stronger.  The Mercury is clean and smooth and even reacting down lane.  I prefer it to the Neptune because I know what it is going to do when I throw it.

I would be it is still pretty flippy, and its not so much that its a bad layout choice but more of that the Neptune is just a flippy ball by nature. I know the one I had was 5.5" pin to pap with the pin really low, it was just below the fingers it was just about on the mid line and it was easily controllable but lacked hit at times.

The only way to find out is try it, if you have more of a forward roll release it may work just fine for you but a few I know that naturally come around the ball a lot found the Neptune to be extremely flippy for them.

Mine was anything but flippy. Mine had a smooth and WEAK move to the pocket.

rymacath, it probably will go a little longer and be a little more on the backend. But you won't know until you try it

I have a neptune that I will be drilling up some time and I was trying to come up with a drill to put on it. Stats in profile. I was thinking a 5 x 5 over the fingers(no hole) or a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 with an extra hole 1 inch below my pap to smooth it out some. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

I have never seen you throw the ball,so it is impossible to tell. Every reply will be an educated guess unless they witness the "said" ball in person.
