Cell falling out of my arsenal
« on: April 02, 2008, 08:18:12 AM »
Just can't seem to get the consistant reaction I want with this ball. Has anyone else had a problem with under/over reactions?

Did you adjust the surface? If not try taking it down to 1000

I found with my CELL it needs OIL. If there is not enough oil the becomes jumpy for me, that tells me to put it in the bag, go to my Angular One. But in the oil the ball works great.

I found that 4000 grit followed up with a cleaning using simple green works well.  The other thing that helped was pushing my pinky away from my ring finger, where I normally keep it tucked.  It really helped my stability and ability to stay behind the ball.  It also prevented my hand from "tilting" toward my pinky side which was causing me alot of over/under. Good Luck

I went from the OOB surface and only having it hook on tournament patterns, to putting some shine on it and having it move now on my THS patterns.

I liked it better in the OOB surface, but I was not getting much use out of it.

284 high game in a tournie in the OOB surface, 733 series shined in a sweeper.

It's an okay ball.

it seems i am the only crazy one who has it at 800 wet sand.  i have this ball specifically for heavy oil and it just never hook early enough.  however, i can use it on a THS and stand left and throw right somewhere and im good to go.  mm2004 is 100% right...you can always mess with a surface and mess with it again and again and nothing happens to the ball.

how is the ball drilled and what are you using it on. If its drilled too strong you wont like it at all .If you dont have a consistent oil pattern you wont like it.
I had mine redrilled weaker and its a much better ball. One thing i have found with this ball ,(i also polished mine to break it down more),Is that you can find a shot with it. In order to really utilize the versatility that this ball offers you have to be versatile. I have played this ball on shots where it wouldnt move at all with the way i was throwing it and change releases and it was like i changed balls.Unfortunatley you dont always have the time to go through all your options. In those instances better to change balls.
Check your drill and surface .It might just be too much for your game. I dont think for the avg. bowler, with less than 16 mph speed and minimal revs, that this ball should be drilled pin down. Pin up anywhere in the drilling spectrum is what i think you need . You dont want this ball to use its energy to soon.
The more you practice with it, the more you you work on different shots for different conditions the more you will like this ball. I wish i could throw it the same way every time but i cant, but when i find it nothing beats my cell.

I bowl on a shot closest to the Viper. Plenty of outside oil. After taking the cover down to a 4000 finish, the ball went longer and snipped nice in the back end. Thanks for the idea, it worked.

I can't do it. Those balls are perfect I find everytime I do a surface adjustment it takes me forever to get it back to how it was. It took me a month on my Hammer 3D. I will just wait for the next release in the Cell line because that should be a pearl or hybrid compliment.
