I'm not sure the equipment was the sole reason Scroggins won. Mike had the left side to himself and created a little something and was lights out after the first match. Pete couldn't get the ball off his hand clean the first 5 frames and still almost won. Tommy D had a Cell, but his look wasn't as good. Jurek just flat out played the lanes wrong and Barnes got caught up in the middle of all that and it looked like he really didn't have a chance in the title match no matter what he did. Fountain Valley has historically favored the lefties, just look at whose won the Dick Weber Open, Jason Couch (2x) and now Scroggins.
This is not to say that the Cell isn't a great piece of equipment, but I think it's too soon to declare it the best thing since sliced bread. I'd like to buy one to try, but I'm not sure there's a house in Tucson that would have enough oil for it, so I'd have to be careful with my layout choice and surface prep. As far as the comparison to the Resurgence goes, Chris Barnes threw a Rival in the title match, not a Resurgence. I thrown the Resurgence and I like it, but I don't think I've seen it's true colors yet because I haven't bowled on a heavy oil condition with it yet.
Personally, I haven't seen enough of either ball to determine which is better, time will tell.
