I was just wondering how long some of you guys and ladies have been using Roto Grip and what are some of your favorite balls or ball line, plus what did you like about this ball or ball and the line: Fuel line, Silver Streak line, Assault, etc....
Mine are in no particular order:
Assault-strong roll with finish
Apocalypse-length with great midlane read with awesome break point
Top Fuel-similar to Apocalaypse with a little earlier read and still big finish.
RSX-still using one! When all else fails I go to this ball for control with strong finish.
Horizon pearl-Clean through the heads with a super strong finish!
Thanks for reply and especially for using Roto Grip-King of them All!

Favorites of all time personally:
-Saturn! that ball got down the lane and was smooth with polish. Until they flipped that core upside down in the neptune it was unbeatable.
-Odyssey, never had a solid that angular or that strong down lane.
-Silver Streak Solid. Just seemed to do it all. Played so many angles.
Favorites for the shop, cause they were easy to sell:
-Cell, it was our biggest seller ever.
-RSP, It was our biggest seller until the Cell showed up.
-Battle, For the bowler with loads of ball speed and no hand this ball made so many lousy bowlers look so good.
-Odyssey, did the same as the battle just had a longer lasting coverstock. And a awesome color.

My two Rotogrips:
Apocalypse
Top Fuel
I need to get these two ready for league next year.
I might have to try some of the new stuff in the future.
-
My current favorites:
Horizon Solid: smooth as silk, and versatile for me Hvy oil,med oil, and lite
Mystic: This ball won me big money at Nationals
RSP: even more versatile than the solid great all around ball
Any Silver Streak: nuff said
Retro Resurrection: skids forever, and then just slams the pocket
Sonic X: bowled in a pot game with 10 other bowlers on the same pair, after lanes had been bowled on. Won all the money when no one could get to the pocket but me! Lanes were torched!
Ultra Sonic: a sneaky, strong hybrid ball that is versatile as well
Battle: best hvy oil ball ever made before the Cell
My teammates were exclusively Brunswick users in one of my leagues. After watching me navigate difficult conditions with ease, using Roto, I now have the entire team throwing Roto Grip! One teammate has two of everything he carries in his bag!
The only reason I didn't mention the Assault line and the SD73, was cause I never got to throw them. But those were the same balls that first attracted me to Roto! Assault was mentioned by the original poster, however.

Nobody mentioned SD73 or the Assault line.
-
Liked my Battle. driller screwed up the pitch of one of my fingers though and plugged it. It cracked there a few months later.
My Saturn was a pretty good ball on med conditions. I dropped to 15 lbs and it got forgotten.
I now have a Cell, Grand Illusion and a Rogue Cell. All treat me well.

Roto RH (the bleeder)
Retro Blue
Pearl Assault (I even called Roger from a stop once asking if there were any in corners of the warehouse anywhere but to no avail)
Sonic X
Gold Grenade
oh, and if I opt for plastic that doesn't bleed, there are a couple of the Clear Grenades at the house, including one that is still undrilled.

I didn't list in my original post that my 1st balls were the XR black rubber with the X2 on it and the blue poly all with the RH, then came the RC5 and then I moved to the hooking ball back in the day the UC2 in about 84/85. Wow, it's amazing to think of all the bowling balls that I used and drilled back in the early 80's! I did mention the Assault line and the Assault pearl was a sweet rolling ball and with the Assault made a great 1-2 combo! Keep posting!!!

Silver Streak SE (hybrid cover) still carry it in my bag - great carry on most conditions - almost immune to carry down. The core is similar to the Storm Hy-Road but because the densest part of the core is further from the center it delivers a bigger back end. This is a core I would love to see again at RG - although I guess Storm may not want to share

Hey Dave_in_Rio_Rancho,
The weight block is a R/G Weight block with similar numbers to Storm's T-Road line and I believe R/G is going to use this or a similar weight block in a new release this summer! If you're not using a ball from Utah, you're getting beat by a ball from Utah! Go Roto

I hear ya, still have an RC-6. Doubt it is legal on the durometer.
After further review, I could be mistaken. I thought I remember the first 3 numbers/letters of the serial number being RC6

I just started throwing RG a little more that a year ago. But my favorite RG ball that is retired that I have is the Mystic. I believe that this is the best Pearl Particle ball ever made. It was love at first throw which was a strike.

had a SD-73, holy cow did that thing hook hook and hook some more, i think it rivals even the cell, the epic line was god like, the battle, saga, odyssey, the quest they were all great balls but the old roto grip that really stands out in my mind that even stood out when it came out:
The Bandit 2
what a ball that was, so much hook for even a old ball....

RS-X. Still the first ball out of my bag. 4+ years an still going strong :-)
-
for me its hands down the epic odessy i have two of these one at box finish(2000 abrlon) and the other (1000 abrlon polished) the box finished one can handle the heavy stuff with the best of them. and the polished one goes long and snaps as hard as anything out there today. love this ball.
