Nomad Pearl
« on: February 09, 2010, 02:56:06 PM »
Just wanted to say how good of a ball this thing is
Ive been using it for about 2 months now
I havent shot under 700 with it in league
and Ive cashed in all but 1 local tournament Ive entered pretty much using it the whole time during the tournament except for on the last game in 1 when the Cheetah pattern was laid down

Roto has an excellant product with this ball

Im thinking about getting a case of them just to hang on to

Im really wanting to try the Nomad Hybrid but I cant find one in 15lbs

Yeah both Nomads are awesome, I drilled up the solid and pearl a few weeks ago and I haven''t pick up another ball since. I would like to get the hybrid one but don''t know how much different that would be with what I got now...

Yeah I think the same about the Hybrid
I personally think it would perform like the Pearl does if you dulled it with like a 2000 or 4000 abralon

but with the Mars (which has the hybrid cover) I get a different reaction than the Neptune hit with an abralon pad to dull it

so I do want to try the Nomad Hybrid out
or I might just wait and try the Dark Star,
they say thats supposed to bridge the gap between the Mars and the Nomad's

I never really matched to the pearl, but I love the Nomad Solid (at 4k w/polish).  If I'm going for a step down from the Solid which of the following would you pick

Riot at 4K polish
Mars at surface TBD

I'm just thinking that the Riot will be too close and I'm totally not matching up with pearl coverstocks for some reason so that's kind of taking the Dark Star out of play.

hmm thats weird that you never really matched to the pearl
so with that the Mars is a big step down from the Nomad if both are drilled the same
but if you have a weaker or neutral drilled Nomad
you can get a close step down with a strong drilled Mars

I do use the Mars as my 1st step down from the Nomad when it really is just too light of a volume for me to use the Nomad Pearl

My Mars is drilled pin over ring finger CG stacked (no weight hole)

My Nomad is drilled pin up over bridge CG kicked out 45 and in line with the middle of my grip (no weight hole)

I have them both at OOB finish
what I get from the Nomad Pearl is great length with a very strong controllable defined back end movement with excellent carry, I leave about 1 ten pin a night during league

What I get from the Mars is a little further length than the Nomad Pearl and just a tamer backend movement (but still a good back end movement) and again excellent carry

If the Dark Star and Riot do what they are advertised to do they will fit well in between the Nomad and Mars

I would try the Riot if you dont match up well with the Pearl covers from Roto

I really dont like to use a big arsenal with my equipment so I can live with the gap between the Nomad and Mars right now
right now my total lineup is

-Full Swing OOB Finish (pin under ring MB to the right and slightly below the thumb, CG kicked slighty to the right of the pin and underneath weight hole in line with the CG)-pretty strong drilling with a huge flare pattern)  I only really use this on very heavy, very long patterns

-Track Inertia 1500 abralon with polish (pin over ring finger CG stacked no weight hole)
I use this for Heavy and Long Oil patterns and flat patterns this ball has tremendous back end movement

-Nomad Pearl- drilled like mentioned above  OOB finish this is my go to ball on most shots including most Sport, Challenge, and PBA patterns

-Mars OOB finish drilled like the Inertia my step down from the Nomad

-Original Purple Rhino Pro - dual thumb layout on it I get excellent length with this a very very controlled back end and great carry with this piece when the lanes start to dry up

No spare ball I just flatten my release for spares
Im kind of a power tweener above 400 Rev Rate and 18-19mph speed
